On April 25th, Vice President Xie Yuan met with the delegation headed by Mr. Collin Eckles, President of U.S. Rose Rock Group. Vice President Xie introduced the friendly exchanges with the U.S. recently carried out by CPAFFC, and the preparation work for the celebration on the 60th anniversary of the Association. Vice President Xie wished to further the cooperation with Rose Rock Group and the Rockefeller family to promote China-U.S. friendly relations. Mr. Eckles thanked Vice President Xie for meeting the delegation, and introduced the relationship and friendship between the Rockefeller family and China. He hoped to further enhance such friendship through working closely with CPAFFC. Mr. Eckls also wanted to actively participate in China’s reform and opening up process by carrying out more financial and investment projects in China.

On April 25th, Mr. Xie Yuan, Vice President of the CPAFFC, met with the delegation headed by Vice President of the PBR Inc. , Mr. Clayton Culien. Mr. Culien introduced his recent visits in Tsingtao, Shanghai and other cities in China, and both the latest advances on the preparation as well as the working plans for the PBR China. Mr. Xie welcomed the delegation and introduced the cultural exchanges effected by the CPAFFC. He also wished the PRB China this year a success.

The Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), the Chinese-African People’s Friendship Association and Gabonese Embassy in China co-organized the 40th Anniversary for the Establishment of China-Gabon Diplomatic Relations in Beijing on Apr. 18th. About 70 Chinese and foreign guests were present at the function, including H.E. Liu Xiaofeng, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, H.E. Liu Jianchao, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs. Vice President of the CPAFFC Mr. Feng Zuoku said, the cooperative relationship between China and Gabon, which was founded by our older generation of state leaders, withstood the change of international situation, and became even stronger, with achievements of cooperation in different areas. China would love to work with Gabon, to promote the relationship to a new level. H.E.Jean-Robert Goulongana, Ambassador of Gabon to China highly marked the mutually-beneficial relationship between Gabon and China, which was established on a equal and mutually-respected basis. He thanked the Chinese government and the people for supporting Gabon’s development strategy of becoming an emerging country by 2025. He believed that the prospect of China-Gabon cooperation is good, and the traditional friendship will be enhanced and be turned into a new chapter. 

On April 18th of 2014, Xie Yuan, Vice President of the Chinese People''s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met with Ms. Marta Rojas, the Cuban famous reporter and writer, and Alberto Silva, Cuban Ambassador to China. Vice President Xie Yuan extended his warm welcome to Marta Rojas of her visit to China, and introduced the People to People Diplomacy of the CPAFFC. He recalled the traditional friendship between China and Cuba, and expected the releasing ceremony of the Chinese Version of Trial of Moncada, the book of Marta Rojas a success. The two sides discussed how to deepen cultural exchanges between the two countries and reached a consensus. Ms. Marta Rojas and Ambassador Alberto Silva thanked Vice President Xie Yuan for taking time for the meeting in his tight schedule, and appreciated the CPAFFC for its strong support on friendly exchanges between the two peoples over years. Marta Rojas recalled her visits to China, and expressed her good impression of the Chinese people, as well as introduced the situation that the Chinese people in Cuba and the Cuban people jointly build the country.

On April 18th , CPAFFC Secretary-General Li Xikui met with Mr. SAKASITA SIGENOBU, Chairman of Committee of Philia Non-Profitable Organization. Secretary-General Li expressed his recognition and appreciation to Mr. Sakasita, for his years’contribution to China-Japan friendship. Mr. Sakasita congratulated CPAFFC on its 60th anniversary of establishment. The both sides also had an exchange of views on how to promote the friendly exchanges between China and Japan. Mr. Zhang Juxiang and Zhang Zihui, Director General and Deputy Director General attended the meeting.

At the invitation of Mme. Li Xiaolin, President of CPAFFC, Hon. Mr. Minnikhanov, President of The Republic of Tatarstan visited Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Beijing. During its stay in China, Mr. Zhang Chunxian, Committee Member of the CCP Central Politic Bureau and Party Secretary of Xijiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Mr. Yang Jiechi, State Councilor and Mme. Li Xiaolin met with President Minnikhanov respectively. Mr. Li Jianping, Vice President of CPAFFC held a banquet for the President and the majority of his delegation members. During his visit in China, President Minnikhanov had in-depth communication with respect to enhancing the bilateral cooperation on economy, trade, energy, technological research, education, human exchanges and innovative industry with relevant enterprises leaders. The Promotion Conference of Investment in Republic of Tatarstan were held respectively in Urumqi, Xinjiang and Beijing. The delegation also visited relevant institutions and enterprises, and signed a series of cooperative agreements. President Minnikhanov thanked President Li and CPAFFC for her warm invitation and the hospitable and high-level reception. He also expreesed his willingness of strengthening cooperative relation with CPAFFC in order to promote the cooperation between local governments from Chinad and Russia.

The 2014-2019 Council meeting of China-Pakistan Friendship Association(CPFA) was convened in Beijing, on 16th April, 2014. A new leadership of the CPFA was elected which includes Mr. Sha Zukang, former UN Under-Secretary-General as the president, Mr. Feng Zuoku, Vice President of the CPAFFC as the Executive Vice President, as well as Madame Geng Ying, Chairwoman of China Cultural Heritage Foundation and Mr. Sun Ziyu,Vice President of China Communications Construction Company Ltd., as Vice Presidents. Ms. Luan Yutao, Deputy Director General of the Department of Asian & African Affairs of the CPAFFC was elected as the Secretary-General of the CPFA.   During the council meeting, President Sha delivered a speech and Executive Vice President Feng made a working report of the CPFA. Through heated discussion, all the council members believe that Sino-Pakistan relations has entered a new era with enthusiasm and fruitful results. Requirements of further exchanges and communications between peoples of the two countries are getting stronger. Council members expressed their willingness to support the work of CPFA in facilitating the construction of Sino-Pakistan Economic Corridor, furthering youth exchanges between China and Pakistan and enhancing the exchanges between the two countries in fields of media, education, culture and women, etc.       A reception celebrating the founding of 2014-2019 council of the CPFA was held after the council meeting. H.E.Mr.Masood Khalid, Ambassador of the Pakistan Embassy and many other Pakistani diplomates attended the reception.

On the afternoon of April 16th , State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with Hon. Mr. Minnikhanov, President of The Republic of Tatarstan of Russia, who was visiting China at CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin’s invitation. State Councilor Yang expressed that the strategic and collaborative partnership between China and Russia was at an important developing period. China would like to work with Russia, to further strengthen the friendly contact and pragmatic local cooperation of the Chinese and Russian regions including The Republic of Tatarstan. President Minnikhanov thanked for the hospitable reception of the Chinese side. His visit has achieved important result which will broaden Tatarstan’s local exchange with China, and strengthen the cooperation in investment, energy, machinery and culture. CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin, Deputy Foreign Minister Li Baodong of China and CPAFFC Vice-President Li Jiaping were present at the meeting.

The press conference for “Charming ASEAN. Approaching China” was held in Fangchenggang city of China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on 15 April 2014.  Mr. Qi Jianguo (Executive Council Member of China-ASEAN Association, Vice President of China-Vietnam Friendship Association and former Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam), Mr. Gu Hang (Deputy Director General, Foreign Affairs Office of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region People’s Government), Mr. Zhong Zhaoyong (Head of Information Office of Fangchenggang Municipal People’s Government), Mr. MD Firdaus ABD Rahman (Vice President of Brunei-China Friendship Association), Dato Low Wai Koon (Chairman of Asia Golden Dragon Awards) and representatives from almost 20 media institutions attended the press conference.  “Charming ASEAN. Approaching China” is initiated by the CPAFFC, China-ASEAN Association and friendship-with-China associations in ASEAN countries, aiming at familiarizing Chinese people with ASEAN features and enhancing China-ASEAN people-to-people exchanges through forums, photo exhibitions and cultural performances.

The 6-people friendship delegation, headed by Céphas Germain EWANGUI, Chairman of Congo Human Rights Federation, paid a visit to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong from Apr. 9th to 15th, at the invitation of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC). The delegation were formed by leaders of 6 Non-governmental Organizations, namely the Congo Human Rights Federation, the Congo Assistance Foundation, the Congo Association of Helping Unmarried Mothers, the Congo Education Development Action, the Youth Association of Preserving the Forests in Central Africa, the Congo-China First Friendship Association. The delegation were treated a meeting and a banquet respectively by Vice President of the CPAFFC Feng Zuoku, Executive Vice President of Shanghai People’s Friendship Association Wang Xiaoshu and Vice President of Guangdong People’s Friendship Association Hu Wei. During their stay in China, the delegation paid a call on the All-China Women’s Federation, the NGO Research Center of School of Public Policy and Management of Tsinghua University and the Education Bureau of Guangzhou Municipal Government. They also took a study tour to Shanghai Hugong Welding Gourp Co., Ltd., the “Agritaiment” program in a loquat orchard in Qingpu District of Shanghai and Guangzhou Career Capacity Training Center. They also paid a visit to the Memorial Exhibition of the Shanghai World Expo. As one of the series of activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of China-Congo diplomatic relations, this visit aimed at learning China and its experience, spreading friendship, promoting the exchange and cooperation between the peoples  represented by the NGOs, so as to add some new elements to the bilateral cooperation and to make the people-to-people exchange a beneficial supplement to the governmental cooperation.
