On Sept. 23rd, organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), China-Russia Friendship Association (CRFA), China-Russian Committee of Friendship, Peace and Development (CRCFPD), the reception celebrating 65th anniversary of the establishment of China-Russia diplomatic relations and CRFA was held in the Great Hall of the People. Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of Standing Committee of National People’s Congress of China, Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the Russian Federation Council were present at the reception and delivered speeches. Zhang Dejiang characterized China-Russia relations as a model for how major countries get along with one another in the 21st century, citing political trust, pragmatic collaboration, people-to-people exchanges and coordination on international affairs. Zhang Dejiang indicated that, the development of China-Russia relations are led by the strategy of the national leaders of the two countries, based on political trust, internally energized by cooperation and mutual benefit, and take the friendship from generation to generation as the common wish. China-Russia relations work for the fundamental interests of the two countries and have profound international significance. Emphasizing that the bilateral relations stand at a new starting point, Zhang called on the two countries to enhance trust, make best use of existing cooperation mechanisms and support the other''s endeavors to maintain stability, seek economic prosperity and improve people''s living standards. Zhang said, China would take the 65th anniversary of China-Russia ties as an opportunity, to make more efforts on the constant and healthy development of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between China and Russia. He thanked CRFA and their Russian Colleagues for their contributions to promoting the people-to-people contact, and emphasized that the non-governmental is an efficient way of consolidating the national relations.  Matviyenko said in her address that, the in-depth development of the bilateral relation conforms to the interests of the two countries and will become an important force of strengthening the regional and world security. The friendly organizations and personages have made important contributions to the development of bilateral relation. The non-governmental diplomacy has become an effective approach to consolidate the friendship of the public. At the moment of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of China-Russian diplomatic relations, Russia is confident of the future of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between China and Russia. The Chinese and Russian youth performed together. Their performance revealed the theme of the cause of the China-Russia friendship will be passed from generation to generation. On Sept. 22nd to 23rd, jointly organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), China-Japan Friendship Association (CJFA) and Japan-China Friendship Association (JCFA), the 14th China-Japan Friendly Exchanging Meeting was held successfully in Osaka. CPAFFC Vice President Xie Yuan led a Chinese delegation to attend and address the  meeting. Wang Xiuyun, Director-General of Japanese Affairs of CPAFFC and Utsunomiya Tokuichiro, Vice President of JCFA made the keynote reports respectively on behalf of both sides. On 22th,September, Mr. Chen Yuan, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and President of China-Russia Friendship Association met with Mr. Titarenko, President of Russia and China Friendship Association and his delegation and had a dinner with them. The both sides had an in-depth discussion. At the invitation of the Chinese People''''''''s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) , President Titarenko made a special trip to China to attend the activities celebrating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Russia, and the establishment of China-Russia Friendship Association.

The CPAFFC, China-ASEAN Association and Chengdu Municipal People’s Government hosted the 9th Conference on ASEAN-China People-to-People Friendship (CACPPF) from 18th to 20th September 2014, organized by Chengdu Municipal Office of Foreign Affairs and Chengdu Municipal People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries in Chengdu of Sichuan province. Vice Chairman Ma Biao of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, President Gu Xiulian of China-ASEAN Association, Chairman Tang Chuanping of Chengdu Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference attended the Conference with ASEAN former state leaders, government ministers, ASEAN Secretariat officials, friendship-with-China associations’ leaders, diplomats accredited to China, local government officials, entrepreneurs as well as representative from cultural and media sectors.  Altogether around 300 delegates from China and abroad were present at the Conference. Vice Chairman Ma Biao Dilivering Speech H.E. Mr. Ma Biao made a key-note speech titled “Initiate a New Course for China and ASEAN by Oriental Wisdom”.  He pointed out that China and ASEAN are good neighbors, friends and partners.  Asian people traditionally value much the relationship of neighbors and observe honest treatment to friends.  At present, we should use oriental wisdom to solve disputes and consolidate harmony. China, India and Myanmar jointly initiated the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. Since last year, China has been advocating the guidelines of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness in its neighborhood diplomacy and a series of proposals for building a closer community of common destiny.  All these have demonstrated the application of oriental wisdom. China-ASEAN relations have ushered in a mature “diamond decade” and the bilateral cooperation is on a fast track.  The two sides should proceed from a more pragmatic attitude and utilize more oriental wisdom for a new course of peace, friendship and cooperation. President Gu Xiulian Addressing the Opening Ceremony H.E. Madame Gu Xiulian addressed the opening ceremony. She said that China-ASEAN relations enjoy rapid development in recent years. People deeply understand the ideas of peace, friendship, cooperation, development, exchanges and mutual learning.  The key to realize safeguarding world peace and promoting common development is to make people in every country fully aware of the significance of peace and development to the humankind.  With this responsibility in mind, the CACPPF is committed to sowing seeds of friendship, building the bridge of cooperation and road of peace. H.E. Mr. Tang Chuanping extended welcome to all delegates from home and abroad on behalf of Chengdu and expressed hope of deepening exchanges and cooperation given the impetus of the 9th CACPPF. Former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Badawi of Malaysia, former Secretary-General Dr.Surin Pitsuwan of ASEAN Secretariat, former Deputy Prime Minister Korn Dabbaransi of Thailand also gave speeches at the Conference on future development of China-ASEAN relations. The 9th CACPPF adopted the Chengdu Declaration, stating that “China-ASEAN always be good neighbors, good friends and good partners” is the general trend and people’s common aspiration and that people in China and ASEAN countries should make concerted efforts in building a closer community of common destiny.  CACPPF was originally name CACPPFO (Conference on ASEAN-China People-to-People Friendship Organizations), jointly initiated by CPAFFC, China-ASEAN Association and friendship-with-China organizations in ASEAN countries in 2006, with the purpose of establishing people-to-people exchange platform, promote mutual trust between Chinese and ASEAN people and push forward pragmatic cooperation.  The CACPPFO has been held annually in China, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.  After past eight years, the CACPPFO has become an important platform for China-ASEAN people-to-people exchanges and made significant contributions to the development of relations between China and ASEAN countries. The theme of the 9th CACPPF is “China-ASEAN relations: new thinkings to the future”.  The Conference include opening and closing ceremonies as well as Summit Forum on ASEAN-China Relations, Forum on ASEAN-China Tourism, Forum on ASEAN-China Media and Forum on ASEAN-China Laboring and Employment.  The 10th CACPPF will be held in Brunei in 2015.

On September 19th, Mr. Xie Yuan, Vice President of CPAFFC meets with Chairman Ichigo Haruyuki of Pan Asian Friendship Association and the delegation. Mr. Xie appreciated the contribution Chairman Ichigo Haruyuki has made  for decades to promoting cultural exchanges between China and Japan, and expressed his wishes that the two associations work together to further people’s friendship through cultural exchanges so that the bilateral relation of the two neighboring countries could return to the normal track of development at an early date. Ichigo Haruyuki agreed with Mr. Xie and hoped to make more cooperations with CPAFFC and more contributions to the friendship and cultural exchanges between Japan and China. In July, CPAFFC and the Pan Asian Friendship Association successfully held the Chinese Characters Exhibition in Tokyo, Japan. The delegation discussed with CPAFFC about future cooperation during this visit, and would visit Anyang for exchanges with National Museum of Chinese Characters and other organizations.

On September 19th, Walter Sheel Forum-- 2014 China Germany Culture Forum, hosted by CPAFFC, CIFCA and INTERCULTUR, was held in Berlin. More than 60 representatives including Dr. Markus Ederer, State Secretary of German Foreign Ministry, Dr. Han Guangming, Minister Counsellor of Embassy of People’s Republic of China, Chen Ping, Culture Consellor of Embassy of People’s Republic of China and Thorsten Schafer-Gumbel, Vice President of SPD Germany attended the forum. Vice President Hu Sishe attended the forum and delivered a speech. Hu reviewed the long history of China-Germany cultural exchanges, introduced what CPAFFC had done in this field and noted that we should give full play to people and people’s organizations, strengthen brand projects while create new ones and explore the potential of cooperation in all ways in China-Germany cultural exchanges in the future. Dr. Markus Ederer recognized positive effects of the forum and expressed his thanks for what CPAFFC and CIFCA have done in promoting China- Germany cultural exchanges and enhancing friendship between Chinese and German people. Dr. Han Guangming and Chen Ping agreed that holding the forum was an innovative way of promoting China- Germany cultural exchanges and hoped CPAFFC and CIFCA continue to serve as a leader and a bridge respectively in people to people diplomacy in the future and hold the forum regularly to increase its influence. Representatives from Chinese cities and local governments delivered speeches respectively on how friendship cities promoted exchanges between Chinese and foreign localities. German representatives from political, educational, cultural and business fields talked about current situation and prospect of exchanges and cooperation between China and Germany from their own point of views. All participants of the forum had a heat discussion on how to develop friendship cities relationship sustainably and how to make friendship cities relationship serve local development and gave their advice and suggestions. The forum was named after former President of Federal Republic of Germany-- Walter Sheel, who served as Foreign Minister when China established diplomatic relations with Germany and was planned to be held every two years in Germany and China respectively. The aim of the forum was to deepen mutual understandings and trust, enhance friendship and promote exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. The next forum would be held in Beijing in 2016.

Sponsored by the CPAFFC and organized by Yunnan People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the 4th China India Joint Medical Mission (CIJMM IV) was held in Yunnan Province from 11th to 17th September. Madame Wang Shufen, Vice Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of Yunan People’s Congress, Mr. Hu Sishe, Vice President of the CPAFFC and Mr. K. Nagaraj Naidu, Consul General of the Republic of India in Guangzhou attended the launching ceremony. The CIJMM IV was composed of 9 Chinese and 9 Indian doctors and was divided into various specialist groups including otorhinolaryngology, internal medicine, dentistry, orthopedics, paediatrics and plastic surgery. The medical mission visited counties and villages in poverty such as Jinping county, Tongchang town and Datangzi village to donate medicine and provide free medical consultation to local poor people. During the visit of the medical mission at each village, hundreds of villagers came for medical consultation. Through sincere and caring communications, Indian doctors showed Chinese people their adept techniques, conveyed their warm friendship and harvested the trust and friendship of Chinese people.  

On Sept. 12th, the signing ceremony of the establishment of China Football Fund for International Exchange and Development was held in Beijing. Mme. Li Xiaolin, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), Mr. Yanshi Duo, the former full-time vice-chairman of the Chinese Football Association and Director of Management Committee of China Football Fund for International Exchange and Development, Mr. Shen Xin, Secretary-General of China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development (CFFPD), and Ms. Yang Nan, Chairwoman of Henan Football Development Foundation were present at the ceremony. President Li Xiaolin said in her address, the Chinese central leadership including President Xi Jinping pay great attention to the Chinese football. He pointed out many times that the Chinese football should be developed. The development of the Chinese football is a systemic project, which not only requires the top design of central leadership, but also needs the wide participation of all circles of the society.  The CPAFFC needs to bring its specialties of possessing many foreign friends and channels, to do more work for the Chinese foot ball based on strategy of “inviting in and going out”. It is expected that China Football Fund for International Exchange and Development could play its unique role in pushing the Chinese football forward, and make its efforts for the earlier rise of the Chinese football. China Football Fund for International Exchange and Development is initiated by China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development subordinated to the CPAFFC and Henan Football Development Foundation, aiming for utilizing the CPAFFC’s channels of foreign contact, to strengthen the exchanges and cooperation of the Chinese youth players and coaches with the advanced countries of football.     At the ceremony.  Henan Football Development Foundation donated RMB 1.5 million as the initial fund to CFFPD.

On the morning of September 11th in 2014, the art exhibition of “ Impression of Ecuador ” co-hosted by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), the Capital Library of China and the Embassy of Ecuador in China was opened in the Capital Library of China. Vice President of CPAFFC Xie Yuan, the Ecuador’s ambassador to China Jose Borja and the sublibrarian Deng Juying attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Besides, more than 200 people attended the opening and visited the exhibition, including leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the National Tourism Administration, Argentina''''''''s ambassador to China, some other ambassadors of Latin America and the people of all circles. The event of “Impression of Ecuador” was held at the initiative of CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin and the foreign minister of Ecuador Ricardo，aiming at enriching the bilateral exchanges between China and Ecuador, creating new types of communication in cultural fields and promoting mutual understanding between the people of the two nations. On November, 2013, the CPAFFC and the Embassy of Ecuador in China signed the agreement on the second phase of the project “Impression of Ecuador”, and organized six artists from Hunan to visit Ecuador to demonstrate the natural scenery and the human landscape by Chinese paintings. Vice President Xie Yuan said, although there is a long distance between China and Ecuador, we have deep friendship. The event of “Impression of Ecuador” lets the people of the two sides know each other better and shares the beauty of culture. We believe that this exhibition will promote the development of Ecuador’s tourism and culture of China. Ambassador Jose Borja congratulated the success of the project. The exhibition makes the Chinese people know more about Ecuador and reveals the love to life. The ambassador also thanked the CPAFFC’s effort for the project. In this June, 64 paintings that demonstrate the natural scenery and the human landscape of Ecuador were exhibited in Hunan and gained a good reputation from the media and the community.  An album of those paitings and good photos was published and titled “Impression of Ecuador ”. Vice President Xie Yuan and the Ecuador’s ambassador to China Jose Borja prefaced the album.

Vice President Feng Zuoku met with THIAW WING KAI Daniel, President of Federation of Chinese Association of Réunion on Sep. 11, 2014. Feng thanked THIAW WING KAI for his hospitality and reception during his last visit to Réunion. He stressed that, CPAFFC is willing to strengthen the communication and coordination with Federation of Chinese Association of Réunion, and to further the bilateral exchange and concrete cooperation  on local government and culture. THIAW WING KAI briefed Feng the preparation of the Forum on Réunion-China Local Government Cooperation, which was to be held in Réunion from Nov. 21 to 23 of this year. And he kindly invited Feng to attend. He hoped to work with CPAFFC to teach Chinese language, dancing, music and culinary, all of which could represent the traditional Chinese culture, so as to enhance the mutual understanding and friendship.
