On Oct. 24th, 2014, CPAFFC Vice President Xie Yuan met with H.E. Mr. Jorge Heine, the new ambassador to China of Republic of Chile. Vice President Xie congratulated Ambassador Heine on his new post in China, and thanked him for his efforts on promoting the non-governmental diplomacy between China and Chile as an old friend of the CPAFFC. Vice President Xie briefed the ambassador about the recent friendship-to-Chile works that CPAFFC has done. He hoped the mechanism of China-Chile friendship cities could play its role to further promote the exchanges and cooperation of the two countries.  Ambassador Heine thanked Vice President Xie for holding the meeting in his tight schedule. He said, this was his first official call after he presented his credentials to the Chinese President Xi Jinping. He spoke highly of the important role that the CPAFFC played in friendly contact between the two countries, and expressed that the new government of Chile attached great importance to the cooperation of the two local governments between the two countries. He wished to further the connection and deepen the cooperation with the CPAFFC.

Organized by CPAFFC and the Tanzania Embassy in China, the celebration of 50th Anniversary of China-Tanzania Diplomatic Relations was held in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse Beijing on October 23, 2014. H.E. Mr. Li Yuanchao, Vice President of China, H.E. Dr. Jakaya M. Kikwete, President of Tanzania and other 500 geusts from all fields attended the celebration. Madame Li Xiaolin, President of CPAFFC and H.E. Mr. Abdulrahaman A. Shimbo, Ambassador of Tanzania to China delivered welcome remarks. Invited by the Youth Sport Association NRW of Germany, Chinese youth delegation, composed of students from Beijing Normal University and young staff of our association visited Germany from 15th to 23rd October to attend the Young Leaders Exchange Programme of China, India and Germany. In the exchange programme, young people from China, India and Germany shared their individual thoughts and values about family, friends and society through activities such as theme presentation, sports exercises and homestay in German families. The programme promoted mutual understanding and friendship among all the participants.    

At the CPAFFC’s invitation, Mr. Harry C. Angping, former Congressman of the Philippines, and Madam Naida Angping visited Beijing and Shanghai from 14th to 20th October, 2014. Vice President Feng Zuoku of CPAFFC and Vice President Yu Jianhao of Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries met with Mr. Angping and Madam, holding discussions on further strengthening China-Philippines people-to-people exchanges. During the visit, Mr. Angping and Madam focused on learning about China’s development in high-speed train, machinery manufacturing and food processing. They also held talks with relevant enterprises and professional councils.

On October 20th, Vice President Xie Yuan met with Ms. Elizabeth Harrington, CEO of E. Harrington Global. Vice President Xie introduced the upcoming events to be held by CPAFFC and thanked her for her continuous support to China-U.S. friendship cause. Ms. Harrington expressed her pleasure of meeting with Vice President Xie and her willingness to continue working with the CPAFFC to promote friendly exchanges and cooperation between U.S. and Chinese business circles and other sectors.

At the invitation of Japan-China Culture Exchange Association (JCCEA), CPAFFC President Hu Sishe led a 5-person delegation to visit in Tokyo, Kyoto and Sapporo in Japan from Oct. 14th to 18th. During his visit, Vice President Hu held meetings with well-known personages from Japanese cultural, educational and economic circles and visited studios of Japanese painters and calligraphers, as well as observed the enterprises and traditional Japanese facilities, thus had a wide exchange of views with the Japanese side on further strengthening the exchanges in civil culture. Vice President Hu said, it is admirable that the civil friendly personages insist on encouraging official diplomacy with non-governmental friendly contact, and promoting the friendship with cultural exchanges. In the future, the both sides should further strengthen the contact in cultural fields, to leave the descendants precious spiritual wealth and legacy of friendship, at the same time to create a cordial atmosphere and public base.

The 13th Lecture Tour by African Ambassadors, hosted by the CPAFFC and organized by Jiangxi Provincial Foreign Affairs Office and Jiangxi People’s  Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, was held in Oct. 14, 2014 in Nanchang, capital of Jiangxi Province. Attendants for the lectures include H.E. Victor SIKONINA, Ambassador of Madagascar and Head of the Diplomatic Corps, H.E. Hassane Rabehi, Ambassador of Algeria, H.E. Abdoulaye FALL, Ambassador of Senegal, Mr. Mouandjo Mouandjo, representative of Cameroonian Embassy, diplomats of the four African embassies, and representatives of more than 40 government organs, enterprises and universities, totally more than 100 people. Diplomats of the four African Countries respectively introduced their country’s general information and investment policies. All of them expressed the willingness of strengthening the exchange and cooperation with Jiangxi Province and bringing entrepreneurs of Jiangxi to invest in Africa. They also exchanged views with the audience during the question and answer session. Moreover, Deputy Director General of Department of African Affairs of Chinese Foreign Ministry Mr. Wang Shiting and First Secretary of Department of West Asian and African Affairs of Chinese Ministry of Commerce Mr. Chen Sheng introduced the general information of China-Africa cooperation and Chinese policy on Africa. H.E.Qiang Wei, Secretary of Jiangxi Provincial  Committee of the CPC, met with the delegation on Oct. 13. Qiang said that the cooperation between Jiangxi and the four African countries had developed quickly, investment amount had increased year by year, and the cooperation potential was large. He wished to take the lecture tour as an opportunity to further enhance the mutual understanding and friendship, to encourage more Jiangxi companies to invest in Africa, so as to enlarge the cooperation with the four countries and Africa at large.     Mr. Yang Fahang, Member of Standing Committee of Yingtan Municipal Committee of the CPC and Deputy Mayor of Yingtan met with the delegation on Oct. 15. The delegation paid a study tour to Jiangxi Normal University, Zhongding International Construction Group, Jiangxi Copper Corporation and Yingtan City Planning Exhibition Hall.  

Vice President Xie Yuan of CPAFFC met with Bill Clifford, President of World Affairs Councils of America (WACA) and his delegation on October 13th in the compound of CPAFFC. Vice President Xie Yuan extended a warm welcome to President Clifford. Mr. Xie briefed on the series of events hosted by CPAFFC to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the founding of CPAFFC and the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the US. He also expressed the hope  that CPAFFC and WACA  cooperate with and support each other in future programs to promote mutual understanding and friendship between the United States and China. President Clifford expressed his wish that the two organizations strengthen communication and cooperation, and work together to elevate the people-to-people exchanges to a new height.

On Sept. 29th, CPAFFC Vice President Hu Sishe met with Mr. Atageldi Shamyradov, Vice_Minister of culture of Turkmenistan, who was paying his special trip to China to attend the series events of Turkmenistan Culture Day. Vice President Hu extended his welcome to Mr. Shamyradov for his visiting to CPAFFC, and congratulated the vice-minister on the success of Turkmenistan Culture Day in Beijing. He deemed this event a beneficial method of promoting the Chinese people’s understanding on the culture and art of Turkmenistan and also an effective measure of drawing the two peoples closer. He also introduced the basic status of that CPAFFC developing its works to Turkmenistan in recent years. He wished Turkmenistan would support CPAFFC to develop cooperation with the correlative departments in Turkmenistan including Ministry of Culture in fields of culture, art, regional collaboration and non-governmental exchanges. Mr. Shamyradov thanked Vice President Hu for him finding time in his tight schedule for the meeting, and spoke highly of the CPAFFC’s contribution to art and cultural exchanges between China and Turkmenistan. He thought the Turkmenistan Culture Day was conductive to the communion of the two people’s culture, art and friendship. He wished both sides further strengthen the in-depth cooperation in various circles especially in culture. Song Jingwu, Director-General of Department of European and Asian Affairs of CPAFFC, Rustemova, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to China were present at the meeting. Jointly organized by the Chinese Ministry of Culture, Turkmenistan Ministry of Culture and Turkmenistan Embassy in China, Turkmenistan Culture Day was held from Sept. 27th to 29th . Under the framework of Turkmenistan Culture Day, the Exhibition of Turkmenistan Decoration and Applied Arts and the round-table meeting for Chinese and Turkmenistan cultural workers were held at the same time. Song Jingwu, Director-General of Department of European and Asian Affairs of CPAFFC attended the opening ceremony held at Tianqiao Theater on 27th.

Sponsored by CPAFFC and organized by Shaanxi Provincial People’s Friendship Association, the 12th Lecture Tour by Ambassadors from African Countries was held in Xi’an, capital city of Shaanxi Province on September 25, 2014. H.E Bheki Langa, Ambassador of South Africa, H.E.Lebohang Ntsinyi, Ambassador of Lesotho, H.E.Ringo F. Abed, Ambassador of Namibia, H.E. Getrude Kasuba Mwape, Ambassador of Zambia, the officials from Uganda Embassy, the officials from relevant department of Shaanxi Provincial Peoples Government and the businessmen totaling about 150 guests attended the function. During the function, the ambassadors and diplomats introduced the overview of investment of their countries, expressed their hopes to strengthen the exchanges and cooperation with China especially with Shaanxi and extended their warm welcome of Chinese businessmen to invest in Africa. Ms. Wang Lixia, Vice Governor of Shaanxi introduced the economic and social development of Shaanxi and their cooperation with Africa and Mr. Zhou Pingjian, Deputy Director-General of African Department of Foreign Affairs Ministry introduced the China-Africa cooperation. Before the function, Ms. Wang Lixia met with the ambassadors and diplomats and extend her gratitude to CPAFFC for build the bridge of Shaanxi-African cooperation.
