Mr. Arken Imirbaki President of CAFA Attends Reception Marking 30th Anniversary of Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and UAE
In the evening of 28 Nov.2014, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Chinese Arab Friendship Association cooperated with the Embassy of United Arab Emirates in China to hold the Reception Marking the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the People’s Republic of China and the United Arab Emirates in Beijing Kempinski Hotel. Mr. Arken Imirbaki, Vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, president of Chinese Arab Friendship Association and Mr. Zhang Ming, Vice Foreign Minister and Mr. Feng Zuoku, vice president of CPAFFC and officials from the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education and other relevant units, Mr. Omar Al Bitar, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to China and all the diplomats in the embassy, ambassadors and Charges d’Affaire of Arabic and relevant countries, Arabic media agencies and about 500 people participated at the reception.
Mr. Feng Zuoku, Vice president of CPAFFC and Mr. Omar Al Bitar, UAE Ambassador to China gave speeches at the beginning of the reception.
Feng Zuoku said, since the establishment of diplomatic ties 30 years ago, the Chinese and UAE governments and peoples have enjoyed mutual respect and sincere cooperation, and forged a profound friendship. Especially since the establishment of the China-UAE Strategic Partnership in 2012, bilateral relations have witnessed all-round and rapid development, with fruitful cooperation carried out in various fields, bringing tangible benefits to the two peoples.
Ambassador Mr. Omar Al Bitar expressed his satisfaction with the smooth development of the relations between UAE and China since the establishment of diplomatic ties 30 years ago and praised the remarkable achievements China had made in different fields, hoped to work together to further cooperation and promote the relations between the two countries towards a more broad prospects of development.

Director General Zhang Heqiang Greets Former US Vice President Al Gore
At the invitation of CPAFFC, former US Vice President Al Gore and his assistant paid a visit to China from November 24 to 26, to attend the Third China Philanthropy Forum. On the afternoon of November 24, Mr. Zhang Heqiang, director general of the Department of American and Oceanian Affairs, greeted Vice President Al Gore at the capital airport, and had a friendly talk with him.
Vice President Hu Sishe Watches Min-On Folk Art Troupe’s Performance in China
A Japanese folk art troupe dispatched by the Min-On Concert Association visited China on a cultural exchange tour from November 16 to 21 at the invitation of the CPAFFC. Headed by Mr. Iijima Shigeo, Vice President of the Min-On, the troupe staged a show respectively in Tsinghua University, China Foreign Affairs University and Tianjin Foreign Studies University. Mr. Hu Sishe, Vice President of the CPAFFC, attended the opening ceremony and watched its first show in Tsinghua University.
In his speech, Hu extended welcome to the troupe and spoke highly of the significance of the Japanese artists’ visits to Chinese universities where they would interact and forge friendship with Chinese students and the faculty.
Mr.Yang Bin, Vice President of Tsinghua University, Mr. Qin Yaqing, President of China Foreign Affairs University, and Mr. Xiu Gang, President of Tianjin Foreign Studies University attended relevant activities. The show had a total audience of 1500.
The show, featuring Japanese folk songs, dances and traditional musical instruments, presented the beauty of the four seasons in Japan and was warmly received by the audience. The Chinese songs Friends and Little Apple performed during the show brought warm response from the audience.
The troupe was the second of its kind sent to China by the Min-On to further cultural exchanges between China and Japan and deepen mutual understanding between their young people. During the performance Chinese students and professors actively participated in the interactions with the Japanese artists. Many said that the show enabled them to learn about Japanese traditional culture at their doorsteps. The three universities showed keen interest in future cooperation with the CPAFFC in bilateral cultural exchanges.

At the invitation of CPAFFC, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti visited Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing from November 16 to 23, to strengthen strategic cooperational ties between Los Angeles and China in the fields of politics, economy and trade, education, environmental protection, etc. On the morning of November 23, Mr. Zhang Heqiang, director general of the Department of American and Oceanian Affairs, sees off Mayor Garcetti at the Capital Airport.
Mr. Xu Kuangdi, President of China-US People’s Friendship Association meets with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti
On the noon of November 21, Mr. Xu Kuangdi, president of China-US People’s Friendship Association and former Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, met with and hosted a welcome lunch in honor of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and his delegation.
Mr. Xu Kuangdi warmly greeted Mayor Garcetti on his visit to China, and pointed out that although China and the U.S. Has different social systems, history and culture, the two countries are working together on the important consensus reached by the two state leaders on building a new model of major-country relationship between China and the U.S. In recent APEC meeting and the G20 summit, the two state leaders reached agreement on many important agendas. They hold the same or similar views on international and regional issues, signed the China-US Joint Agreement on Climate Change, and reached agreement on visa extension. Mr. Xu encouraged that the city of Los Angeles continue to strengthen subnational and people-to-people exchanges with China and make contribution to China-US relationship.
CPAFFC Vice President Feng Zuoku Visits South Africa and Namibia
At the invitation of the SA-China People’s Friendship Association and the Government of Erongo Region of Namibia, CPAFFC Vice President Feng Zuoku led a 5-people delegation to visit South Africa and Namibia from 13 to 21 November, 2014.
During the visit to South Africa, the delegation held talks with Hon. Pravin Gordhan, Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, and Mr. Tom Cao, Executive President of the SA-China People’s Friendship Association. In Namibia, the delegation paid a courtesy call to H.E. Sam Nujoma, former President of Namibia, and held talks with Hon. Charles Namoloh, Minister of Regional and Local Government, Housing and Rural Development, Hon. Jerry Ekandjo, Minister of Youth, National Service, Sports and Culture, and Hon. Vice President Xie Yuan Meets with NCSL delegation
Vice President Xie Yuan held a meeting with US National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) delegation in Beijing on November 21, 2014. The delegation was headed by Mary Jane Wallner, member of NCSL Executive Committee and chair of House Committee on Finance of New Hampshire Legislature.
It also consists of Utah State Senator Howard Stephenson, Indiana State Representative Robert Behning, Georgia State Representative Tom Dickson, Montana State Representative Kristin Hansen, Oregon State Representative Betty Komp, Wisconsin State Senator Luther Olson, Massachusetts State Representative Alice Peisch and Delaware State Senator David Sokola.
Vice President Xie Yuan said that CPAFFC values its cooperation with NCSL, and expressed the hope that the two organizations work together to promote sub-national exchanges and cooperation between China and the US.
Speaker of House of People’s Representatives of Ethiopia Visits China
At the invitation of CPAFFC, Hon. Mr. Abadulla Gemeda Dago, Speaker of House of People’s Representatives of Ethiopia visited Beijing, Hubei and Tianjin from October 31 to November 8, 2014.

During the visit in Beijing, H.E Mr. Zhang Dejiang, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of National People’s Congress (NPC) met with the delegation. H.E. Mr. Abdul’ahat Abdulrixit, President of the Chinese-African People’s Friendship Association and the Vice Chairman of the 11th National Committee, CPPCC hosted a banquet for the delegation. The speaker also visited the College of Defence Studies, National Defence University, where the speaker studied and met with Major General Lanzhitao.

4th High-Level Forum on Cooperation of Chinese-French Local Governments Held in Strasbourg
On Nov. 6th to 7th, organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and Committee of Cooperation of Local Governments of French Foreign Ministry, the 4th High-Level Forum on Cooperation of Chinese-French Local Governments themed Strengthening Innovation and Cooperation, Promoting Urban and Rural Development was held in Region Strasbourg. As one of the important events for commemorating the 50th anniversary of China-French diplomatic ties, this year’s forum was listed in Long-term Plan of Cooperation of China-France Relationship that signed when the Chinese President Xi Jinping visited France in March, 2014.
About 800 attendants from over 100 provinces, cities and districts in China and France attended the forum, and held dialogues and seminars on 3 topics of Governance of Urban and Rural Area, Development of Local Economy and Science and Higher Education Serve for Local Development. Besides, the representatives of the Chinese and French business circles attended the forum for entrepreneurs. At the forum, the awarding ceremony for commending the cooperation programs of the Chinese and French local governments, and signing ceremony of cooperation agreement were held. The excellent performance of the art groups from the both countries made the forum even more successful. At the forum, the conclusive document was adopted. The 5th China-French Forum will be held in Chengdu, China.
