On August 24, Chen Yuan, Vice Chairman of The National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of China-Russia Friendship Association attended ceremony at the Russian Embassy to China to award “Pure Red Hearts” TV crew the medal “70th Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Hu Chunmei, Deputy Director General of the Department of European & Asian Affairs and Executive Secretary of China-Russia Friendship Association also attended the ceremony.  

  On August 24, 2015, CPAFFC Vice President Lin Yi met with delegation of veterans and family members of Mongolian soldiers taking part in the Chinese War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.  Madame Lin conveyed greetings from CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin and said that the Chinese people will never forget the great sacrifice made by the Mongolian people in support of Chinese peoples’ war against the Japanese invaders. Chinese people will always cherish the remarkable contributions of the older generations of revolutionaries in bringing about the smooth development of bilateral relations. CPAFFC will further strengthen its cooperation with the union for Peace and Friendship Mongolia as well as Mongolia-China Friendship Association for greater achievements in the China-Mongolia friendship cause. Mongolian delegates recalled the profound friendship fostered between the Mongolian and Chinese army during the war, and expressed gratitude for the great importance attached by the Chinese Government to their visit in China, which will be conducive to the consolidation of Mongolia-Chinese relations.

Sponsored by China India Friendship Association (CIFA), Opening Ceremony of the China International Yoga & Naturopathy Conference 2015, with the theme of “Past Winning We Defend, Victory and Woe We Share”, was held at the Capital Library of Beijing on 22 August. Madam Lin Yi, Vice President of CIFA, H.E.Mr. Ashok K. Kanta,  Indian Ambassador to China, Madam Liu Yang, Executive Chairwoman of China International Yoga Conference, Deputy Director of Committee for Women and Children’s Affairs of the China Association for Promoting Democracy , and Mr. Lin Xiaohai, CIFA Council Member, Secretary General of China International Yoga Conference  attended the ceremony. Madam Lin Yi, Ambassador Kanta and Mr. Lin Xiaohai delivered speeches respectively. The 2015 Yoga Conference lasts for 3 days featuring activities of Free Public Yoga Classes, Yoga Asana Competition, Wheel Rod Yoga Training, etc. Under the framework of this conference, seminars on development of Yoga Industry, yoga tour to India, as well as compilation of China International Yoga & Naturopathy Conference 2015 Journal will also be carried out.      

 Delegation of 2015 China trip of youth ambassadors from United Arab Emirates(UAE) consists of 34 members, and the members visited Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Guangdong(Shenzhen, Foshan and Guangzhou)from June 25th to August 22nd. Youth Ambassadors program of UAE is initiated by Sheikh Muhammed bin Zayed al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince in 2012. The program is an annual international youth exchange program sponsored by Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi and co-organized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of UAE. China trip section was added into the program in 2013, and has already held twice in China. Each time, the program selects 20-30 promising youth representatives from top universities of UAE, and sends them to visit China for 3 weeks, during which the youth representatives learn from China’s development experience. While training talents for UAE’s important sectors, such visit also enhances comprehensive understanding of UAE’s youth, particularly elites of UAE’s youth, about China, consequently strengthening the traditional friendship and cooperation between UAE and China. In 2014, recommended by the UAE Embassy in China and Chinese Embassy in UAE, CPAFFC becomes the program’s cooperative partner from Chinese side.           Arken, president of China- Arab Friendship Association, presenting a gift to Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi During the delegation’s visit in Beijing, Mr. Arken Imirbaki, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and president of China- Arab Friendship Association (CAFA), met with the delegation. Ms. Lin Yi, the vice president of CPAFFC, held a feast for the delegation. During the visit in Beijing, the delegation also visited Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, the Ministry of Commerce of China, Beijing University of Physical Education, Petro China, Sinopec, CNNC and Xiaomi company. They also had a one-week intensive Chinese language learning class in Beijing Foreign Studies University, and participated lectures on China- Arab economic and trade relations, Chinese business etiquette, and business culture.   Visiting Soochow University In Shanghai, the delegation visited Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. and Borouge Sales and Marketing (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. In Zhejiang, the delegation visited the Alibaba headquarters. In Suzhou, the delegation visited Yingchuang Building Technique(Shanghai) Co.Ltd and Soochow University.   Visiting Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. In Guangdong, Mr. Yu Weihua, executive director of Guangdong People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (GPAFFC), held a feast for the delegation. For the delegation, CPAFFC, Guangdong Youth Federation, and GPAFFC jointly held China - UAE youth representatives exchange meeting, which Zhang Zhihua, the deputy secretary of the Provincial Youth League, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. The delegation visited Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Fantawild Holdings Inc., and Tencent, Inc. in Shenzhen, and visited Guangdong Vanward Group and Hisense Kelon Electrical Holdings Company Ltd. in Foshan.   Visiting national team training base at Beijing University of Physical Education  In addition, this year’s program adds intern section. Under the arrangement of CPAFFC, 7 students who participated the program before interned in China Petroleum Engineering Co., Ltd.,  Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd headquarters(Shenzhen), Borouge Sales and Marketing (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., and UAE embassy in China for 3 weeks, respectively. Mr.Nasser Mubarak, senior program manager from Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi, evaluated the program in this year as a rich and colorful one with a busy schedule, which reaches great achievements and produces positive influence. The effect of the program is beyond the expectation, and the program in this year is the most successful one among those in recent years. Members of the delegation highly value this opportunity, and fully experience Chinese culture and development through this China trip. The program is very beneficial for the members of the delegation. Mr. Nasser Mubarak appreciated the great attention and thoughtful arrangement by CPAFFC for this program, and expected further cooperation in the future.          

The Reception Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Sino-Afghanistan Diplomatic Relations cohosted by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Embassy of Nepal was held in Beijing on 21 August 2015. H.E. Qiangba Puncog, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Madam. Lin Yi, Vice President of the CPAFFC, Mr. Liu Jianchao, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs attended the reception. Attendants from the Chinese side include officials from International Department of the Communist Party of China, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Education, All-China Women’s Federation etc. Nepal Ambassador Dr. Mahesh K. Maskey, diplomats of the Nepal Embassy, Nepalese residents and students in China, diplomats of other countries in Beijing were present at the reception. H.E. Qiangba Puncog and Ambassador Maskey unveiled two commemorative envelops respectively designed by China and Nepal for the 60th China-Nepal diplomatic ties together. Vice President Lin Yi and Ambassador Maskey delivered speeches. H.E. Qiangba Puncog met briefly with Ambassador Maskey before the reception.      

Hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Embassy of Afghanistan in Beijing, the Reception Celebrating the 96th Anniversary of Independence of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and Afghanistan was held in Beijing on 20 August 2015. Vice Foreign Minister Wang Chao, Vice President of CPAFFC Lin Yi, Afghanistan Ambassador to China Farahi and about 200 Chinese and foreign guests attended the celebration.   Madam Lin Yi said in her speech that, China and Afghanistan are linked by mountains and rivers. Sharing a common destiny, our friendly exchanges have a long history. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 60 years ago, our two countries have maintained sound cooperation, increasingly frequent contacts in various fields, continuously deepened friendship, and substantially improved strategic cooperative partnership. Bilateral relationship is at the best period of its historical development, Chinese people pay close attention to the security situation in Afghanistan and hope the Afghan people could lead a peaceful, stable and happy life as early as possible. Ambassador Farahi expressed his gratitude for China's staunch support and aid to Afghanistan. He said the Afghan people attach great importance to friendly cooperation with China, and China is their trusted friend. Afghanistan is willing to maintain close partnership and strengthen cooperation with China.

  On August 19th, Mr Song Jingwu, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met with Janice Dickson, President of Scotland-China Association. Vice President Song spoke highly of the contributions that the Scotland-China Association has made in promoting communication and understanding between the Chinese and British People, and between the Chinese and Scottish people in particular, over the past nearly 50 years since its establishment, and extended congratulations on its upcoming 50th anniversary celebration. Song said the CPAFFC supports the celebration activities for its 50th anniversary. Dickson thanked the CPAFFC for supporting its work. The two sides have exchanged ideas on the upcoming 50th anniversary celebration of the Scotland-China Association and on their future cooperation projects. Deputy Director General of the European and Asian Department Mr Shen Xi attended the meeting.

On August 18th, Vice President Xie Yuan met with a 19-member students delegation from Johns Hopkins University (JHU) of the United States. The delegates include doctoral and master graduates and candidates of JHU’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). Vice President Xie expressed warm welcome to the delegation. He introduced the main work of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), indicating that promoting China-U.S. sub-national exchanges and cooperation is one of CPAFFC’s main tasks. VP Xie vividly described the long and profound friendship between China and the United States. The two countries will have a broad future for cooperation. He hoped that the younger generation from both sides could promote mutual understanding and trust through exchanges and visits to each other, and thus promoting the development of bilateral relationship. The delegation leader is Ms. Ji Zhaojin, program coordinator of SAIS’s China Studies program and assistant to Professor Lampton, a famous American scholar. Ji expressed her sincere gratitude to CPAFFC and briefed Xie on the exchange programs between SAIS and China. The delegates discussed with VP Xie and Director General Zhang Heqiang about hot issues including China-U.S. relations, cyber-security, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, etc. Some delegates mentioned that they had known about CPAFFC’s programs such as Touching the Tigers and Salute to Friendship before the visit. They hoped that the American public, especially young people, could learn more about the Friendship Association’s projects.

  On August 17, Vice President Xie Yuan met with Mr. Audie Wong, President of Amway China. Vice President Xie appreciated the achievements made by Amway since it started its operation in China 20 years ago. He encouraged Amway to expand its business in China, so as to further contribute to the economic and trade exchanges between China and the U.S. Audie Wong said Amway regards China as its most important market for its huge potential and good prospect for development. Amway will strive to meet the demand from the Chinese market through innovation, and will stay committed to promoting U.S.-China relations.

From Aug 14 to 16, the delegation of “Ping Pong Diplomacy Touring China”, led by Vice President Song Jingwu,visited Hebei Province.Wang Shaohua,Deputy Mayor of Shijiazhuang City, Party Secretary of Zhengding County and Li Weijun, Acting Head of Zhengding County, met with the delegation. Wang Shaohua welcomed the delegation and said that Zhengding County is a famous national historic and cultural city and one of the important birthplaces of Yanzhao civilization.In recent years,its economy as well as other undertakings have been advancing rapidly. Zhengding is the place where President Xi Jinping used to work and National table tennis training center is located. This visit will surly improve the reputation of Zhengding and vigorously promote Zhengding’s foreign exchanges and cooperation.     Song Jingwu ,Vice President of CPAFFC and President of Table Tennis Association of CPAFFC said that giving full play to people-to-people diplomacy, “Ping Pong Diplomacy” , which rotates the globe by tiny balls, is a successful example in the history of world diplomacy. For years, CPAFFC has been committed to inheriting and carrying forward the fine tradition of “Ping Pong Diplomacy” .This delegation, the first one of“Ping Pong Diplomacy Touring China”organized by CPAFFC, will have matches with provincial and municipal teams.The purpose of this event is to inherit “Ping Pong Diplomacy” so as to increase the understanding and affection of foreign diplomats for China.   Rinchen Rakshaev,First Secretary of Russian Embassy in China,said that it is a great pleasure to visit Zhengding. “Ping Pong Diplomacy Touring China” is a great event that enables Russian diplomats to have a better understanding of China. Russian diplomats will strive to deepen friendship between Russia and China. In Zhengding, the joint team of foreign diplomats and CPAFFC table tennis team respectively had friendly matches with table tennis team of Zhengding County government and the joint table tennis team of Hebei provincial government and Shijiazhuang municipal government.
