The CPAFFC Vice President Ms. Lin Yi met with Mr. Amit Narang, the newly-appointed Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) of the Indian Embassy in China on December 27th. Vice President Lin Yi warmly welcomed Mr. Narang and highly appreciated the substantial support from the Indian Embassy for the past years. She made positive comments on the exchange programs jointly organized by our association and the Indian Embassy and looked forward to collaborating on more people-to-people as well as local governmental exchanges in the year 2017.  Mr. Narang thanked the CPAFFC for its consistent support to the Indian Embassy in China. He said that the Embassy has maintained good collaborative relations with the CPAFFC and carried out various non-governmental exchange programs. He hoped to work with the CPAFFC on the International Yoga Day and the Second Forum of Leaders of the Regions of India and China. Ms. Luan Yutao, Deputy Director General of the Department of Asian and African Affairs was present at the meeting.

At the invitation of Peruvian Embassy in China, Mr. Xie Yuan, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met with the Peruvian Ambassador to China Carlos Capnay on December 20th. Vice President Xie Yuan reviewed the reception held by CPAFFC recently for celebrating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Peru as well as the general situation of the delegation from CPAFFC visiting Peru. He also made a brief introduction about the future plan of the people-to-people friendship of the two countries and thanked Ambassador Carlos Capnay for his support to the work of CPAFFC. Ambassador Carlos Capnay spoke highly of the contributions CPAFFC had made to the friendship of the two peoples and extended congratulations on  the delegation from CPAFFC visiting Peru. Ambassador Carlos Capnay hoped to keep close contact with CPAFFC to assist the different Peruvian friendly organizations, regions and cities to strengthen the cooperation with CPAFFC in the fields of the cultural folk customs, youth, local exchanges and etc.. Mr. Ji Yongjun, Deputy Director-General of the Department of American and Oceania Affairs of CPAFFC, attended the meeting.

CPAFFC Vice President Lin Yi met with H.E. Mr. Sameeh Essa Johar Hayat, New Ambassador of Kuwait to China on 14th December. Mr. Sameeh thanked Vice President Lin for sparing time to meet him. He said Kuwait supported the “Belt and Road” Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping, and expressed willingness to further consolidate people-to-people friendship between Kuwait and China based on the smooth development of bilateral relations in the fields of politics, trade and economy, etc. Vice President Lin introduced the work of the CPAFFC and the China Arab Friendship Association, and said that the CPAFFC would like to maintain communication and coordination with the embassy to make greater effort in promoting friendly exchanges between the peoples of China and Kuwait.  Mr. Sun Xueqing, Deputy Director General of the Asian and African Department of the CPAFFC was present at the meeting.

At the invitation of Instituto Cultural Peruano Chino, a delegation led by Mr. Xie Yuan, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) visited Peru from December 10 to 12, 2016. During the visiting, Vice President Xie Yuan met with the personages from various circles including former Peruvian Vice President Almirante Luis Giampietri, Member of the Peruvian Congress and Presidenta de la Liga Parlamentaria Peru China, Nelly Cuadros, Chairman of Department of Lima Nelson Chui and the former Peruvian Ambassador to China Chen Lu and etc.. They exchanged their views on further promoting the people-to-people diplomatic work of the two countries in various fields and hoped to continue to enhance the traditional friendship and push forward the bilateral relations.  The delegation held working meetings respectively with Instituto Cultural Peruano Chino, Fundacion Amistad Peruano Chino, Asociacion de Empresarios Peruano Chino. The heads of these Peruvian friendly organizations including Secretary-General of Asociacion de Empresarios Peruano Chino He Lianxiang, President of Instituto Cultural Peruano Chino Eduardo Yang Motta, President of Fundacion Amistad Peruano Chino Cesar Loo thanked CPAFFC for its support and assistance for a long time. All parties reached extensive consensus on strengthening the cooperation of different organizations in the fields of the local exchanges, folk culture and youth exchanges. Peruvian Ambassador to China Carlos Capnay made a special telephone call from Beijing to extend welcome to the delegation visiting Peru. The delegation was invited to observe the general election of Villa Tusan. The delegation paid an official call upon the Chinese Ambassador to Peru Jia Guide.

H.E. Mr. Arken Imirbaki, Vice Chairman of Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) and President of the Chinese-Arab Friendship Association (CAFA), met with Oman-China Friendship Association (OCFA) delegation led by Mr. Khalid Salim Said, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Oman-China Friendship Association and Secretary General of the State Council of Oman on December 12th. Vice Chairman Arken Imirbaki extended welcome to the delegation and happily reviewed his visiting to Oman in March this year. He said, China and Oman enjoy profound friendship. In recent years, the two associations jointly developed series of people-to-people friendly exchanges activities, which enhanced the mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples. Both sides should continue to strengthen the exchanges, develop rich activities and promote the development of the bilateral relations. Khalid Salim Said thanked Arken Imirbaki for taking time to meet the delegation. He expressed, Oman pays high attention to the friendly cooperative relations with China. OCFA is willing to strengthen the exchanges with the Chinese side and push forward the cooperation of the two countries in fields of culture, tourism, economics, trade, investment and etc.. Mme. Lin Yi, Vice President of CPAFFC, Mr. Abdullah Al Saadi, Oman Ambassador to China, attended the meeting.

On December 8th, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Embassy of Iceland in Beijing jointly held a reception for the 45th anniversary of China-Iceland diplomatic relations. Mr Zhou Xiaochuan, Vice Chairman of the the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Mr. Olafur Grimsson, Former President of Iceland, Mme. Zhang Qiujian, Deputy Secretary General of CPPCC, Mr. Hu Sishe, Vice President of the CPAFFC, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Haixing, Ambassador Stefan Skjaldarson of Iceland, together with over 150 guests from CPPCC, the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Commerce, Institute of the International Affairs, Beijing Foreign Studies University, People's Literature Publishing House, China International Publishing Group, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Sinopec, as well as diplomats from the Embassy of Iceland, and representatives from all sectors attended the reception.  Vice President Hu Sishe said in the speech that China would like to take the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties as an opportunity, on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, to work with Iceland, further enhance the practical cooperation in various sectors, and bring bilateral relations to a new level. Ambassador Stefan Skjaldarson highly appreciated the support from China in 2008 through IMF, at the very time that Iceland was struck with financial crisis. He said Iceland people will take this friendship at heart forever. Iceland and China have a bright future on artic cooperation. Before the reception, Vice Chairman Zhou Xiaochuan held a meeting with Former President Mr. Grimsson, Ambassador Stefan Skjaldarson an other guests, and exchanged views on cooperation of geo-therm, artic development and tourism.

On 6 December, Workshops of China Denmark Regions and Cities Forum were held in Beijing. Representatives from China and Denmark participated in the four workshops “green urbanisation”, “improving public health”, “sustainable food and agriculture”, and “strengthening people-to-people exchange” under the theme of “Focusing on Sustainable Development towards Shared Economic Growth”. They held in-depth exchanges and discussions on the topics as Green Solution for Sustainable Urbanisation, Sustainable Solutions for District Heating and Cooling, National Regulations on Air Pollution from Heavy Traffic, Water Solutions for the Big Green Cities, Off Shore Wind for Sustainability, Public Health Reform and Capacity Building, Healthcare Innovation from Policy to Local Implementation, Sustainability within Food and Agricultural Systems, Financing Agricultural Technology, Tourism, Art, Sports, and Education.  On the morning of 6 December, Danish Minister for Gender Equality and Nordic Cooperation Karen Ellemann Kloch, who visited China to attend the China Denmark Regions and Cities Forum at the invitation of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, joined Workshops and visited the supporting exhibitions. She asked with great interest business performance of the participating enterprises, tasted diary products provided by China-Denmark Milk Technology Cooperation Centre, and held talks with Workshops’ speakers including Mr Fang Laiying, Director General of Beijing Health and Family Planning Commission and senior representatives from VIA University College. Minister Karen Ellemann Kloch said the Workshops were well attended and she felt the rising enthusiasm for China-Denmark cooperation. She was impressed by the strong willingness of the two countries to cooperate, and wished the Forum a complete success.

On the evening of December 6, the Closing Banquet of the China Denmark Regions and Cities Forum was co-hosted by the Beijing Municipal Government and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries(CPAFFC). Executive Vice Mayor of Beijing Li Shixiang, Vice President of the CPAFFC Hu Sishe and Lord Mayor of Copenhagen Frank Jensen attended the Banquet and addressed the audience. Danish Ambassador to China Carsten Damsgaard together with 350 government and business representatives from the two countries attended the Banquet. Young performers from the Music Confucius Institute at the Royal Danish Academy of Music jointly established by the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing and the Royal Danish Academy of Music sang famous Chinese and foreign songs, pushing the Banquet to an exciting climax.

On the morning of 5 December, starting from the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries(CPAFFC), Danish Minister for Gender Equality and Nordic Cooperation Karen Ellemann Kloch, who visited China to attend the China Denmark Regions and Cities Forum at the invitation of the CPAFFC, together with the Danish regional and municipal leaders and the Danish Ambassador to China Carsten Damsgaard, visited Beijing’s scenes by biking. She hoped to raise people’s awareness of environmental protection and low carbon transportation by ways that the Danish people like and advocate. Before the bicycling, the Danish delegation listened to the report on Beijing’s Plan for Coordinated Development for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region presented by Senior Engineer Mr Wang Liang from Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall. The Inaugural China Denmark Regions and Cities Forum themed “Focusing on Sustainable Development towards Shared Economic Growth” was co-hosted by the CPAFFC and the Royal Danish Embassy in Beijing. 

A reception for celebrating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic of China and the Kingdom of Belgium was held in Beijing by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Embassy of Belgium in China on December 4th. H.E. Mr. Arken Imirbaki, Vice Chairman of Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) and Mr. Siegfried Bracke, President of the Chamber of Representatives of the Federal Parliament of Belgium, attended the reception. Mr. Song Jingwu, Vice President of CPAFFC and Mr. Michel Malherbe, Ambassador of the Embassy of Belgium in China, proposed toasts respectively. Vice Chairman Arken Imirbaki and President Siegfried Bracke jointly unveiled the plaque for the commemorative envelope of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Belgium on the reception. They all watched the excellent performances played by the traditional Chinese instrument Peizhu and traditional Belgian instrument Saxophone . More than 150 representatives from various circles in Beijing attended the reception.
