Reception Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and the Federated States of Micronesia Held in Beijing
The Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries held the reception celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Federated States of Micronesia in Beijing on September 10, 2019. Vice Chairman Chen Xiaoguang of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Vice Minister Zheng Zeguang of Foreign Affairs, Vice President Xie Yuan of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Micronesia Ambassador Carlson Apis to China, Fiji Ambassador Manasa Tagicakibau to China, Tonga Ambassador Tau‘aika ‘Uta‘atu to China, Vanuatu Ambassador Nguk Yang Dennis Nai to China, and around 100 representatives from various walks of life from China, Micronesia and some other Pacific island countries attended the reception. Vice President Xie Yuan noted in his speech that the relations between China and Micronesia have made substantial progress over the past 30 years. The two countries have maintained frequent high-level exchanges. Mutual exchanges and cooperation have been strengthened in various fields of trade and economy, education, culture, agriculture, infrastructure and etc. People-to-people friendly contact between two countries is also growing closer. A variety of fruitful projects carried out by the sister states/cities of the two countries have invigorated the bilateral relations. It is time to take the opportunity of the 30th anniversary to enhance mutual understanding and people’s friendship, expand practical cooperation in various areas and push forward the bilateral friendly relations to a new height. Ambassador Apis spoke highly in his remarks of the achievements of Micronesia-China relations in the past 30 years and expressed appreciation to China for its important assistance to Micronesia’s economic and social development. He stated that Micronesia will firmly adhere to one-China policy, continuously deepen bilateral relations, strengthen exchanges and cooperation and make contributions to regional and world peace and prosperity. Vice President Hu Sishe Meets With Dr. Denis Alt, State Secretary of the Ministry of Science, Further Education and Culture of Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany
On Sep.5, Vice President Hu Sishe meets with Dr. Denis Alt, State Secretary of the Ministry of Science, Further Education and Culture of Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany during the Third Session of Dialogue Between Chinese and German Historical Cities (Dialogue in short in the below). The two sides discussed over issues of shared concern. Dr. Hu and Dr. Denis Alt both appreciated the long-term friendship and cooperation between CPAFFC and Rheinland-Pfalz State. They spoke highly of the deep friendship and wide cooperation between them. They looked back on the past sessions of the Dialogue since 2017 and the much more enriched contents of fruitful cooperation from musical exchanges to cultural heritage protection, tourism, university exchanges, innovation & entrepreneurship, urban planning and architecture, and so on. Vice President Hu Sishe attended the Third Session of Dialogue between Chinese and German Historical Cities
On Sep.5, the Third Session of Dialogue Between Chinese and German Historical Cities was held in Trier, German. The Dialogue was co-hosted by CPAFFC together with Shaanxi People’s government, Rheinland-Pfalz State Government, Ministry of Science, Further Education and Culture of Rheinland-Pfalz, German Generaldirektion Kulturelles Erbe Rheinland-Pfalz (GDKE), Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher China-gesellschaften (ADCG, Federation of Germany-China Friendship Association). President of CPAFFC Madam Li Xiaolin, Governor of Shaanxi Province Mr. Liu Guozhong and Governor of Rheinland-Pfalz Madam Malu Dreyer sent congratulating letters respectively to the Dialogue. Dr. Hu Sishe, Vice President of CPAFFC, Dr. Denis Alt, State Secretary of the Ministry of Science, Further Education and Culture of Rheinland-Pfalz, Mr. Ji Wenkui, Deputy Director General of Shaanxi Foreign Affairs Office,  Ms. Elvira Garbes, Vice Mayor of Trier, Mr. Qiang Xiaoan, Vice Mayor of Xi’an, Mr. Kurt Karst, President of ADCG, and Dr. Thomas Metz, Director General of GDKE and representatives from the Chinese Consulate General in Frankfurt attended the opening ceremony.  Dr. Hu mentioned in his speech that we’ve held 2 successful dialogues since 2017 and the past two years witnessed higher level, more rich contents and more influence of the two Province / State. In the future, we will be more engaged in promoting exchanges and cooperation between China and Germany in the fields of protection of cultural heritage, tourism, music, innovation & entrepreneurship, and smart-city development.  Dr. Denis Alt, State Secretary of the Ministry of Science, Further Education and Culture said in his speech that the cooperation between CPAFFC and Rheinland-Pfalz began with music exchanges and was then expanded to the fields cultural heritage, tourism, economy and so on. He looked back on cooperation between CPAFFC and Villa Musika,  series exhibition of Meeting China and other cooperation in the past. He expressed confidence in future bilateral cooperation.   The Dialogue will be held between Sep.4 to 6 on the theme of innovation, heritage protection and city planning. During the dialogue, activities including China-Germany Innovation and entrepreneurship Dialogue, Sino-German Symposium on Historic and Cultural Heritage,   Symposium on Sino-German Urban Planning and Architecture. Besides these activities, the folk artists from Yulin will give performances in Trier, Mainz, and Wiesbaden. Director General Shenxin Attends the Hangzhou International Day Events
Mr. Shenxi, Director General of European and Central Asian Affairs Department of CPAFFC led a delegation to the Hangzhou International Day Events which gathered more than 327 delegates from 38 countries. Mr. Shen attended the opening ceremony of Hangzhou International Sister-Cities Mayors’ Conference and the Council Meeting of UCLG-ASPAC Committee on the Belt and Road Local Cooperation (BRLC) under the framework of Hangzhou International Day Events. BRLC is a committee of UCLG ASPAC founded by CPAFFC and Hangzhou city. The committee meeting co-hosted by CPAFFC and Hangzhou City has been institutionalized.  Photographed by Zhang Weiwei

Ping Pong Fit 2019 International Festival held in the U.S.
From August 31 to September 2, at the invitation of the Global Creative Cities Coalition (“GC3”), Xu Fenghua, Deputy Inspector of the Department of American and Oceanian Affairs of CPAFFC, led a delegation to visit Long Beach, California to attend the Ping Pong Fit 2019 International Festival. Deputy Inspector Xu read the congratulatory message from President Li Xiaolin on the opening ceremony of the event, introduced the main tasks of CPAFFC and the work we have done for the local government exchanges between China and the United States in recent years, and said that the event is of great significance to the sports and cultural exchanges between China and the United States. Monique Luo and Barry Sedlik, the founders of GC3 and host of the Festival, said that the purpose of the event is to promote ping pong through public participation, so as to enhance the understanding and friendship between people of China and the United States, and that they will set up table tennis tables in public places in more cities in the future, in order to promote a healthier and happier lifestyle to more people in the United States. Zhang Ping, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Los Angeles, John Keisler, Economic Development Director of the City of Long Beach, and other Chinese and foreign guests attended the opening ceremony and cut the ribbon for the Festival. CPAFFC delegation delivered the commemorative paddles specially made by Shanghai Double Happiness Co., Ltd. for the event to the Festival organizer and the City of Long Beach. During the visit to the United States, the delegation also held  meetings with Katherine Greene, representative of the Mayor of Dublin, California, Jeffrey Greene, Chairman of the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundationon, and Edward Beneda, son of U.S. Flying Tigers veteran Glen Beneda on the possibility of cooperation on strengthening China-U.S. sub-national government cooperation, carrying on friendship between the two countries and spreading the story of bilateral cooperation of the Flying Tigers. The 10th Annual Conference of China Iran Friendship Associations and Seminar on China Iran Relations Held in Beijing
On August 13, the 10th annual conference of China Iran Friendship Associations and seminar on China-Iran relations was held in Beijing. It was jointly organized by CPAFFC, China-Iran Friendship Association and Iran-China Friendship Association. China and Iran join hands to build the Belt and Road was the theme of this year’s conference. Vice President Mrs. Lin Yi of CPAFFC, President Mr. Ahad Mohammadi of Iran-China Friendship Association, Iranian Ambassador to China H.E. Mohammadi Keshavarz Zadeh, as well as nearly a hundred people from all fields including travel, culture, youth, technology and trade of both sides attended the conference. The Seminar mainly focused on China-Iran joint efforts in the building of the Belt and Road. Participants shared their opinions on the status quo and challenges of bilateral cooperation as well as each others’ expectations in forms of keynote speeches and free discussions. “China-Iran Friendship Night” Dulcimer Concert Held in Beijing
On August 12, China-Iran Friendship Night dulcimer concert was held at the West Theater by CPAFFC,the Iran-China Friendship Association and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Beijing. The Jasmine Dulcimer Duo Orchestra from the Central Conservatory of Music and the Laha Santur Orchestra from Iran jointly presented the audience with a wonderful performance. Vice President Mrs. Lin Yi of CPAFFC, Chairman Mr. Ahad Mohammadi of Iran-China Friendship Association, Iranian ambassador to China H.E. Mohammadi Keshavarz Zadeh, as well as 300 people from both sides attended the concert. China-Iran Friendship Night Dulcimer Concert is one of the exchange programmes of the 3rd International Dulcimer Festival supported by CPAFFC. The 4th Council Meeting and Reception of the Chinese-Arab Friendship Association Held in Beijing
On July 26, the 4th Council of the Chinese-Arab Friendship Association (CAFA) was founded and held its first plenary meeting in Beijing, followed by a celebration reception the same night. H.E. Arken Imirbaki, Vice Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, was re-elected as the President of CAFA and attended the above activities. The meeting introduced achievements of CAFA in enhancing people-to-people exchanges and assisting the building of the Belt and Road. Participants also made proposals on our future work. Vice President Xie Yuan Meets UPS President of Global Public Affairs Laura J Lane
Vice President Xie Yuan met with President Laura J Lane of UPS Global Public Affairs on July 25th, 2019.  VP Xie highly appreciated the American enterprises such as UPS for their continued business in China and their efforts to consolidate the friendship with Chinese partners under the environment of complicated bilateral relations. He briefly introduced the schedule of CPAFFC’s work in exchanges and cooperation with U.S.in the second half of this year and wished to work with the American business community to make more contributions to enhancing China-U.S. friendship and promoting the development of the people-to-people communication and cooperation. Lane appreciated CPAFFC for the long term support to UPS. She introduced the company’s development plan in the Chinese market and expected to cooperate with CPAFFC in broader fields in the future to facilitate U.S.-China sub-national exchanges and benefit the two peoples. Vice President Song Jingwu meets with Outgoing Ambassador of the Laos to China Vandy Bouthasavong
On July 19, Vice President Song Jingwu met with outgoing Ambassador of the Laos to China Vandy Bouthasavong in Beijing. On behalf of CPAFFC and President Li Xiaolin, Vice President Song thanked Ambassador Vandy’s support to China-Laos people-to-people friendship work during her tenure. VP Song said that China and the Laos are friendly socialist neighbors connected by mountains and rivers and the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership enjoys continuous development under the strategic guidance of the two countries’ leaders. CPAFFC will deepen the friendly and cooperative relations with the Lao Embassy in Beijing and Laos-China Friendship Association, thus to promote the bilateral people-to-people friendship cause. Ambassador Vandy thanked VP Song for sparing time on the meeting and sang a high praise to the Laos-China people-to-people friendship work conducted by CAPFFC and China-Laos Friendship Association (CLFA). Ambassador Vandy said that the Laos-China relations enjoy the best time in history and the two sides are now building the common community of shared future. The Lao Embassy to China will continue to support the work of CPAFFC and CLFA and jointly contribute to the development of Laos-China comprehensive strategic cooperative Partnership.
