CPAFFC Secretary-General Li Xikui Visits Spain and Morocco
At the invitation of Public Diplomacy Council of Catalonia (DIPLOCAT), Spain and the ORU-Fogar, Mr. Li Xikui, Secretary-General of CPAFFC and Council President of CFFPD visited Spain and Morocco from April 22 to 29.
During in Spain, the delegation attended the Sant Jordi Festival ( a literature festival symbolized by books and roses), held working meetings with Mr. Albert Royo, Secretary-General of DIPLOCAT and met with Mr. Maria Marin, Technical Secreary of Catalan Booksellers Association, reaching consensus on organizing Chinese writers to attend the festival in the future.
During in Morocco, the delegation attended the executive council meeting of ORU-Fogar and called on Morocco Prime Minster H.E. Saadeddine El Othmani. The delegation also held working meeting with Mr. Abdessamad Sekkal, President of ORU-Fogar and President of Council, Region Rabat-Sale-Kenitra, met with Ms. Bassama Hakkaoui, Minister of Solidarity, Women, Family and Social Development, Mr. Mounir Ferram, Deputy President of Council, Region Casablanca-Settat, and Dr. Mohamed Khalil, President of Morocco-China Friendship Association. During the ORU-Fogar meeting, CFFPD also signed the MOU with the Global Fund for City Development (FMDV).
Vice President Song Jingwu Meets with and Holds a Banquet for Uzbekistan Delegation
Mr.Song Jingwu, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), met with Uzbekistan local government leaders delegation led by Mr. Sherzod ISMATULLAYEV, Mayor of Gulistan, Capital of Syr Darya states, Uzbekistan, and held a banquet for them on April 28.
Vice President Song Jingwu extended his warm welcome to the delegation and made a brief introduction about the basic function of CPAFFC and the general work developed with Uzbekistan in recent years. He also introduced the Belt and Road to the delegation, and hoped that the two countries should strengthen the exchanges of friendly-cities and the cooperation of the localities. The delegation spoke highly of the actively contributions CPAFFC had made to enhancing the traditional friendship and mutual understanding of the two peoples, shortening the distance between the hearts of two peoples and promoting the exchanges of the humanity and culture and etc.. They are willing to deepen reform and opening up as well as promote local cooperation for Uzbekistan by learning Chinese experience.
At the invitation of Chinese Embassy in Uzbekistan and organized by it, the delegation visited China. It also arrived in Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing and etc. in succession and visited some well-known enterprises including Skyworth, HUAWEI, SUNIRAY, Beijing Capital Agribusiness Group, Tongrentang Group Ltd, Beijing Yizhuang Development Area. It was the first time for the delegation to visit CPAFFC.
Madame.Naraporn Chan-o-cha Visits China
At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), a delegation led by Madame.Naraporn Chan-o-cha, wife of Thai Prime inister, visited China from 23th to 27th, in April. Mme. Shen Yueyue, Vice- Chairperson of Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), Mme. Gu Xiulian, President of China- ASEAN Association, Mme. Lin Huiqing, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education of China, met respectively with the delegation. They exchanged views on the bilateral relations, people-to-people exchanges and cooperation in other relevant fields. The delegation also visited Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beijing Normal University, The Second High School Attached to Beijing Normal University, Beijing Social Welfare Institution 1, Beijing Space City and etc. They learned more about the current situation in the fields of education, aged people’s insurance and others.
The wife of the Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, the wife of the Minister of Ministry of Education of Thailand and the wife of the Vice Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, visited China accompanied with Madame. Naraporn Chan-o-cha.

Vice Premier Liu Yandong Attends The 2nd Africa-China Youth Festival
During her official visit to South Africa, Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong attended and addressed the Closing Ceremony of the 2nd Africa-China Youth Festival on April 26, 2017. Hon. Edna Molewa, Minister of Department of Environmental Affairs of South Africa, Mr. Buti Manamela, Deputy Minister in the Presidency of South Africa, Mme. Lin Xiaolin, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and Mme. Lin Yi, Vice President of the CPAFFC were present at the function. Mr. Waseem Carrim, CFO of the National Youth Development Agancy (NYDA) of South Africa chaired the ceremony.

She said that the Africa-China Youth Festival is a great event to deepen Chinese and African youth exchanges in the new era of China-Africa win-win cooperation and common development. The Festival was successfully held in China last year and it comes to the African continent this year. The 2nd Festival, themed on “Unity, Responsibility for Common Prosperity”, was a great success with President Zuma’s personal care. It will definitely contribute to deepening the mutual understanding and learning between the Chinese and African youth, and have a positive impact on the development of China-Africa cooperation.
Minister Molewa said it is pleased to see delegates from China and the African continent, over the past three days, successfully engaged in fruitful discussions on key issues that directly affect young people. She also expressed her hope that the two sides can increase interaction and cooperation on youth affairs and other sectors, and provide innovative solutions to realize the development ambitions, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The 2nd Africa-China Youth Festival, co-hosted by the CPAFFC and the NYDA, aims to implement the achievements of the FOCAC Johannesburg Summit and is timed to coincide with the official launch of China-South Africa High-level People-to-people Exchange Mechanism. 300 youth from China and 44 African countries visited the Apartheid Museum, Wits University and Huawei Innovation Center, participated in the China-Africa Youth Dialogue, attended the South Africa-China High-level Dialogue and watched the Chinese and South African traditional art performances. Through these activities, the Chinese and African youth have enhanced mutual understanding, deepened their understanding and recognition of China-Africa friendship and strengthened their sense of mission and responsibility of devotion to China-Africa cooperation.

Vice President Song Jingwu Meets with Former President of VNC
On April 26th, vice president Song Jingwu met with Mr. Jaap Post, former president of Netherlands China Friendship Association (VNC) and Mr.OEY Toen Ping, vice president of Rotterdam Branch. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on co-hosting Dutch China Local Government Forum in the second half of the year in the Netherlands.

Mme. Gu Xiulian, President of China-ASEAN Association Meets with the Spouse of Thai Prime Minister Naraporn
On April 24th, Mme. Gu Xiulian, President of China-ASEAN Association met with Mme. Naraporn Chan-o-cha, the spouse of Thai Prime Minister, at the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC).
Gu Xiulian welcomed Naraporn and the delegation for the visit on behalf of CPAFFC, and said China and Thailand are friends and partners like a family. With deepening cooperation in various fields, the bilateral relations have developed smoothly since the diplomatic relations were established. She emphasized that people-to-people amity and friendship and city relations are important parts of the bilateral relations, and CPAFFC and China-ASEAN Association are ready to enhance cooperation and communication together with the Thai side in this regard and promote the all-round development of Chinese-Thai relations.
Naraporn thanked CPAFFC for inviting the delegation to China and said Thai and China are not only friendly neighbors but also sisters and brothers of one family. She hoped to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries in education, science, culture and other fields through the visit.
Naraporn’s delegation also includes the Spouses of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Education and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.
A Conference of New Term Council Members of China-Latin America and Caribbean Friendship Association Held in Beijing
A Conference of new term council members of China-Latin America and Caribbean Friendship Association (CLACFA) was held in Beijing on April 24th, 2017. Around 80 personages including Mr. Ma Peihua, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Mr. Xie Yuan, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), Mr. Zhu Qingqiao, Director-General of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and the new term council members of CLACFA, attended the conference.
CPPCC Vice Chairman Ma Peihua was elected as new term President of CLACFA.
President Ma Peihua delivered an important speech on the conference. He pointed out that CLACFA should strengthen the exchanges and development of the Association in the fields of humanity, local governments, economy, trade and energy. Every council member should take CLACFA as a platform to give great support and to take part in the various activities held by CLACFA, so as to enhance mutual exchanges and greatly develop the broad prospect of the friendship between China and Latin America and Caribbean countries. He also hoped that every council member should make efforts to giving advice and suggestions to promote the comprehensive and in-depth development of the bilateral relations, which could serve the country’s diplomacy.
Director-General Zhu Qingqiao also made an introduction about the current relations and the general situation between China and Latin America and Caribbean countries.
Vice President Xie Yuan Meets with President of The Asia Foundation
Vice President Xie Yuan met with Mr. David D. Arnold, President of The Asia Foundation on April 12th.
Vice President Xie introduced the work CPAFFC has done in the field of philanthropy and promoting the health of women, children and adolescents under the framework of United Nations Every Woman Every Child China Partnership Network; as well as Chinese NGOs involvement in international collaboration. Mr. Arnold briefed Mr. Xie about the projects carried out by The Asia Foundation in China. He said that the promulgation of Law of the People’s Republic of China on Administration of Activities of Overseas Nongovernmental Organizations in the Mainland of China had been greatly welcomed as it provided clear guidance for foreign NGOs to proceed legal registration in China. The Asia Foundation would complete its registration strictly according to relative laws and regulations, to lay a solid foundation for its future work in China.

Mr. Song Jingwu, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), held working conference with Mr. Mezentsev, Member of the Russian Federation Council (RFC) and Chairman of Russia-China Friendship Association (RCFA) on April,12th. Both sides had a discussion on the cooperative plan for China-Russia Friendship Association (CRFA) and Russia-China Friendship Association (RCFA) in next step.
