As part of the commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, International City-Cooperation Center of CPAFFC held “Ode to Peace” special event, and unveiled the Ode to Peace sculpture. Over 250 international friends and multi-national corporation representatives attended the event.
60 years ago, CPAFFC invited Qi Baishi, an influential Chinese Painter, together with another 14 artists, to create the Chinese painting “Ode to Peace” for Helsinki World Congress, declaring China’s good prospect of upholding peace, and against war and aggression, to the world through art; 60 years later, CPAFFC creates the song “Ode to Peace” and its sculpture, aiming to use again the common language of mankind--art--to express Chinese people’s never-ending pursuit for peace.
With lyrics written by President Li Xiaolin, music composed by renowned composer Zhao Jiping and Zhao Lin, chorus by Golden Sail Choir of Beijing No.2 Experimental Primary School and Chinese Air Force Blue-Sky Children’s Art Troupe, “Ode to Peace” hopes to deliver to the world China’s wish for upholding peace and determination of adhering to the path of peace development .
In the event, President Li Xiaolin expressed her hope of taking this event as an opportunity to encourage more people, regardless of nationality, religion and color, longing for peace.
When the video of American veterans coming all the way to attend “9·3” event in China was shown on the big screen; when children used their sweet voices to long and pray for peace; when former Deputy Chairman Xu Kuangdi and President Li Xiaolin unveiled “Ode to Peace” sculpture…all audience were moved. The event recorded solemn moment of sensing peace and made touching movements of “we are the world”, expressing to the world the aspiration of all human beings: May people live in love and respect; may the world forever stay in peace.
