On May 3rd, Mr. Tang Jiaxuan, President of China-Japan Friendship Association (CJFA), met in Beijing with Japan-China Friendship Parliamentarians’ union (JCFPU) delegation led by Mr. KOMURA MASAHIKO, President of JCFPU, Vice Chairman of Liberal Democratic Party. Mr. Kong Xuanyou, Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Mr. Song Jingwu, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and Mr. YOKOI YUTAKA, Ambassador of Japanese Embassy in China, attended the meeting.
Tang Jiaxuan said, China and Japan are important close neighbors. Peaceful coexistence and friendship for generations are the solitary correct choices for the two countries. The Chinese side adheres to develop Sino-Japanese good-neighborly and friendly relations on the basis of the four political documents and the four-point principal consensus between China and Japan and in the spirit of reviewing the history and looking into the future. At present, the general relations of the two countries are stable, while the foundation is still fragile. Both sides should commonly maintain the political foundation of the bilateral relations, strengthen the exchanges and cooperation of the two countries in various fields and properly handle the important sensitive issues of the Sino-Japanese relations on the basis of the important historical points. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the normalization of China-Japan diplomatic relations and next year will mark the 40th anniversary of the conclusion of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between China and Japan, so we could push bilateral relations for improvement toward the correct direction of peace, friendship and cooperation. He hoped that JCFPU could keep firm belief and make more contributions to improving the bilateral ties.
KOMURA MASAHIKO said that the two countries should not only develop good-neighborly and friendly relations for each other, but also should jointly make contributions to the peace and development of the regions. He also expressed that the Japanese side is willing to continue staying committed to the four political documents and work with the Chinese side to take the 45th anniversary of the normalization of Japan-China diplomatic relations in this year and the 40th anniversary of the conclusion of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between Japan and China in next year as an opportunity to further strengthen the exchanges and cooperation of the two countries in various fields and levels, enhance the mutual understanding of the two peoples and push bilateral relations for further improvement. He also said that JCFPU would make efforts for this.
