On April 20, 2025, the 2025 China (Anyang) International Conference of Chinese Characters opened in Anyang, Henan Province. Attendees included Song Zhenghui, Vice Governor of Henan Province; Yuan Jiajian, Secretary of Anyang Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC); Gao Yong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Anyang Municipal Committee and Mayor of Anyang; as well as over 400 representatives from 52 countries and heads of relevant international organizations. Jiang Jiang, Vice President of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), attended and addressed the opening ceremony.
Jiang Jiang congratulated the conference on its opening and stated that Chinese characters represent not only a treasure of the Chinese nation but also a unique bond linking Chinese civilization with other civilizations, contributing wisdom and strength to promoting exchanges and mutual learning among these civilizations and enhancing mutual understanding among peoples. The world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century. Addressing our common challenges and moving towards a brighter future are inseparable from the power of cultures and civilizations. The CPAFFC stands ready to collaborate with all parties to uphold equality, mutual learning, dialogue and inclusiveness among civilizations, actively implement the Global Civilization Initiative, and host diverse cultural exchange activities to help open up new prospects in people-to-people exchanges and cultural interactions between China and foreign countries that bring peoples closer.
Themed on "Characters · Civilization · Technology · Future", the conference lasted for three days and featured multiple activities, including themed academic forums, live performances, interactive experiences, calligraphy art exhibitions, speech contests, and study tours.
