The Secours Populaire Francais (SPF) is the largest civil relief organizations in France. In 2007, SPF established contacts with the CPAFFC and the two organizations have since successfully worked together on a number of exchange and cooperation programs with a combined worth of over 1 million RMB yuan, including the donation of water cellar for Zhaona village of Tianshui, Gansu Province, tent and other relief materials in the aftermath of Wenchuan earthquake in Sichuan province; and a library for Huangxu Middle School of Deyang, Sichuan Province. In addition, the two sides also organized a series of friendship exchange events for teenagers of both countries such as music performances and sports events. Both the relief efforts and exchange programs have contributed to a sustainable mechanism for bilateral cooperation, which have played a positive role in promoting philanthropy, China-France friendship, and in particular the mutual understanding and friendship between the younger generation in both countries.
