2010 China International Friendship Cities Conference Successfully Held

On September 8th to 10th, hosted by CPAFFC and CIFCA, 2010 China International Friendship Cities Conference was held in Shanghai. Mr. Jia Qinglin, Chairman of CPPCC met with chief delegates from participating countries and attended the closing ceremony. Mr. Yu Zhengsheng, Member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee and Secretary of Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPC attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. 427 delegates of local government officials, representatives from local government organizations, friendship cities organizations and friendship associations from 47 countries attended the Conference. 144 local government officials from 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities ) in China attended the Conference. The theme of the Conference is “Better City Through Cooperation ”.

37 Chinese provinces were awarded and foreign provinces/cities which had made  were awarded at the conference. 37 Chinese provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities ) were granted the Award to Friendship Cities for Exchanges and Cooperation and the Award to Friendship Cities for Special Contribution. The Award to Friendship Cities for Exchanges and Cooperation with China was established and  granted to 80 foreign provinces/states and cities from 22 countries to recognize their long term outstanding contributions to the friendly exchanges and cooperation with Chinese cities.
