The Second Jimmy Carter Forum on U.S.-China Relations Held in Hangzhou

The Second Jimmy Carter Forum on U.S.-China Relations was held in Hangzhou from March 21 to 23, 2025. Shen Xin, Vice President of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. The event brought together Lu Shan, Vice Governor of the People's Government of Zhejiang Province; Cui Tiankai, Advisor to the Council of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) and former Chinese Ambassador to the United States; Paige Alexander, CEO of The Carter Center; and over 70 representatives from institutions including the U.S.-China Business Council, Yale University, Fudan University, Peking University, and Renmin University of China. Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng delivered a video address.

Participants conducted candid and in-depth discussions on U.S.-China economic and trade relations, scientific and academic exchanges, challenges in cooperation and risk management, proposing insights and recommendations for advancing the U.S.-China relationship.

The Jimmy Carter Forum on U.S.-China Relations is a non-governmental exchange platform established to commemorate former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and his contributions to the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and the United States. It aims to enhance mutual understanding and dialogue between the peoples of the two countries, promote cooperation and communication across various fields, and jointly address global challenges.
