On January 24, Vice President Shen Xin of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met with Guillermo Puyana, President of the Colombia-China Friendship Association (CCFA).
Vice President Shen Xin highly appreciated the efforts of the CCFA, which has, over the past 48 years, long been dedicated to enhancing the friendship between the Chinese and Colombian people and boosting mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries across various fields. He noted that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Colombia. Shen expressed that the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) is eager to seize this opportunity to implement the important consensus reached between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Colombian President Gustavo Petro. This includes expanding all-round cooperation with the CCFA and increasing exchanges between the two countries in areas such as youth, business, local government, healthcare, education, and sustainable development. Additionally, the CPAFFC aims to empower the the sustained and in-depth development of the China-Colombia strategic partnership through people-to-people friendship, delivering more tangible benefits to both peoples.
Guillermo Puyana remarked that all members of the CCFA have remained true to its founding mission, maintaining close cooperation with the CPAFFC, and dedicating themselves to the cause of Colombia-China friendship. The Semana Colombo China (China Week in Colombia), hosted by the CCFA, has had a far-reaching impact in Colombia and played a positive role in helping the Colombian people to understand China and deepening practical cooperation between the two countries. Going forward, the CCFA will continue to adopt new approaches to its work and strive to nurture new generations of individuals engaged in friendship with China, ensuring that the friendship between China and Colombia flourishes and is passed on through generations.
Deng Lan, Deputy Director-General of the CPAFFC Department of American and Oceanian Affairs, accompanied Shen Xin to the meeting.
