On August 29th, the 19th Exchange Conference of Friendship Cities among China, Japan and Republic of Korea was successfully held in Ulsan city of R.O.K. Over 300 delegates from three countries attended the conference and had discussions on the theme of “Accelerating Transformation and Upgrading and Promoting Regional Development in Northeast Asia”.
Madame Lin Yi, Vice President of CPAFFC, said on the opening ceremony that the exchanges and cooperation among China-Japan-ROK local governments are confronted with both opportunities and challenges. The trilateral sides should join hands to build a peaceful, stable and prosperous Northeast Asia.
Mr. Kim Kwan-yong, President of Governors Association of Korea (GAK) and Governor of North Gyeongsang Province, Mr. Kim Gi-hyeon, Mayor of Ulsan City and Mr. OKAMOTO TAMOTSU, President of the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR) made speeches respectively on the opening ceremony. The participants of local governments from China, Japan and R.O.K all agreed to keep communication, share experience on issues of common concern and jointly seek for greater development.
The Conference is co-hosted by CPAFFC, GAK and CLAIR alternately in three countries annually. The 20th Conference will be held in Kaifeng, China in 2018.
