Reception in Celebration of 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of China-Singapore Diplomatic Relations held in Beijing

On July 3rd, the CPAFFC and the Embassy of Singapore in China jointly held the reception marking the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore. Mr. Yu Zhengsheng, Chairman of the National Committee of CPPCC, Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam, President of Singapore, who was on a state visit to China, and Mrs.President, CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin, Vice President Lin Yi, Mr. Stanley Loh, Ambassador of Singapore to China attended the reception together with more than 400 Chinese and Singaporean guests from all walks of life.

Chairman Yu Zhengsheng said in the speech that China and Singapore were close friends and good partners. The two sides have forged the bilateral ties from a strategic and long-term perspective, carried out win-win cooperation in keeping with the national development strategies and found a innovative path of mutual learning and mutual benefit. The China-Singapore relationship was now at the new starting point. The two sides should review and carry forward the friendly and cooperative ties of 25 years, and act in a spirit of “following the tradition, enhancing mutual trust, looking to the future and pursuing win-win cooperation” to push for greater progress.

President Tony Tan said that the Singapore-China relationship has made substantial development since the establishment of diplomatic ties. The Singaporean side was willing to enhance the cooperation with the Chinese side to push the bilateral relations to a higher level for the benefit of more opportunities and well-being of the two peoples.

Chairman Yu Zhengsheng and President Tony Tan also jointly witnessed the ceremonies of cheque hand-over on the fund-raising for the Ludian Earth Quake by Singapore side as well as the unveiling of the best picture for the photography competition on China-Singapore 25 years’ diplomatic ties.
