In the morning of 29th June, the photo exhibition in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the initiation of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence was held by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin accompanied Chinese Vice-President Li Yuanchao, Myanmar President U Thein Sein and Indian Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari to visit the exhibition.

In June 1954, the Chinese government issued joint statements with the governments of India and Myanmar respectively, which set forth and advocated the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence (namely mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, mutual non-aggression, non-interference in each other''''s internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, and peaceful coexistence) as norms in handling state-to-state relations. Sixty years on, the Five Principles have become the cornerstone of China''''s independent foreign policy of peace. Widely recognized and observed by the international community as basic principles guiding relations between countries, the Five Principles have promoted the sound and stable growth of international relations, safeguarded international fairness and justice, and contributed greatly to world peace and human progress.

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the initiation of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. The CPAFFC selects 80 valuable photos for the exhibition, which record the 60 extraordinary years of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. The exhibition consists of 3 parts, which collects photos from various periods after the initiation of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, Sino-India relations as well as China-Myanmar relations.Photos of the exhibition present high-level communications, people-to-people exchanges and China’s foreign aid, etc.
