Heading a CPAFFC working group, Vice President Xie Yuan visited the State of Texas of USA from March 7 to 8. During the visit, he had dialogues with Executive Director Bryan Daniel of the Economic Development and Tourism Division of the Governor's Office of Texas, Chief of Staff Patricia Shipton of the Speaker of Texas House of Representatives, Chief Development Officer Andy Icken of Mayor’s Office of Houston, Chairman Neil Bush of Bush China US Relations Foundation (youngest son of former US President George H.W. Bush), and Chairman Charles Foster of US China Partnerships.

The US side regards the US-China relationship as one of the most important bilateral relationships in the world, and the sub-national cooperation forms the foundation of the bilateral relations. Texas is rich in natural and human resources, and has been leading other US states in terms of economic development in recent years, with advantages at industries such as energy, medical care, innovation and education. Texas wishes to expand its links with China and strengthen exchanges and cooperation in all areas through various channels including subnational governments, legislatures and sister cities, so as to further contribute to the sound and stable development of the bilateral relations.
