On November 10th, Vice President Xie Yuan met with U.S. Political and Business Friendship Delegation .
Vice President Xie Yuan briefed the delegation on the work and function of CPAFFC as well as some major events held by our association, such as the commemoration activities of the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, the China-U.S. Governors Forum, the 4th Forum on U.S.-China Relations, and the China-U.S. Sister Cities Conference. CPAFFC coordinates and oversees the work of establishing and developing sister-city relations between China and other countries. Up to now, 44 pairs of sister province/state and 201 pairs of sister cities have been established between China and the U.S. Vice President Xie said that the CPAFFC hope to strengthen corporation with people from all sectors in the U.S. to jointly push forward local and people-to-people exchanges between our two countries.
Mr. Deng Long, head of the delegation, Chairman of U.S. Chinese Chamber of Commerce (UCCC) and Co-Chairman of New York State Republican Financial Committee, said that since its founding 11 years ago, UCCC has organized 10 delegations to visit China. The exchanges and visits between our two peoples, which are crucial to the bilateral relations, will enhance our friendship and understanding. UCCC would like to work with CPAFFC to push forward China-U.S. relations.
The delegation members also include Mayor George Vallejo of North Miami Beach of the State of Florida, Mr. Mark C. Fang, Human Rights Commissioner of Westchester of the State of New York, Mr. Allen C. Pedersen, Former Operations Manager for Delta Airlines and mayoral candidate for the City of Marathon of Florida.
