On June 30th, Mr. Shen Xin, Deputy Director-General of European Department, met with Lord Davidson of the UK House of Lords. The two sides exchanged views on a broad range of issues in terms of political, economic, trade, and cultural exchanges. Mr. Shen said that the CPAFFC would like to establish contacts with House of Lords and jointly push forward the exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in related areas. Mr. Shen also proposed that some important delegations visiting UK organized by the CPAFFC might meet with members of the House and other social celebrities so that the two sides could explore opportunities and programs to enhance China-UK friendship. Lord Davidson expressed his willingness to facilitate such contacts and meetings, and said that although China and UK had their own national interests, there were so many areas where the two countries could find common interests and strengthen cooperation.
