From June 1 to 4, 2025, Vice President Jiang Jiang of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) led a delegation to Uzbekistan for the Second Uzbek-Chinese Regional Forum and paid a visit to the country.
In the opening remarks at the opening ceremony, Vice President Jiang reviewed the outcomes achieved in recent years through cooperation between Chinese provinces and cities and Uzbek counterparts. He emphasized that subnational entities play a vital role in international exchanges, and that subnational cooperation is an integral part of bilateral relations. The steady deepening of China-Uzbekistan subnational cooperation has brought tangible benefits to the two peoples. Under the guidance of the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries and in the spirit of global solidarity, win-win cooperation, and openness and inclusiveness, the CPAFFC is committed to working with all sectors in Uzbekistan to: build a bridge of hearts to enhance mutual understanding and strengthen the foundation of friendship; build a bridge of cooperation to promote shared development; build a bridge of civilizations to deepen cultural exchanges; and build a bridge to the future to carry forward friendship for generations to come.
During the visit, Vice President Jiang held separate meetings with Chairman Sariyev Kaxraman Ramatullayevich and Chairman Narzullayev Olim Xayrullayevich of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries; Abidov, President of the Union of Cities of Uzbekistan; Shermatov Ulugbek Ubaydullayevich, Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, and Security of the Legislative Chamber; Razapova and Yunusov, Members of Parliament; Boboev Adiz Muzafarovich, Governor of Samarkand Region, and Oybek Khamraev, Deputy Governor of Samarkand Region; Sanjar Shuhratovich Tojiyev and Mamadjanov Bunyod, Deputy Mayors of Tashkent; Sardar Niyazov, Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change; and Kabulzhon Sabirov, Director of the SCO Center for Public Diplomacy, and so on.
Vice President Jiang noted that, China and Uzbekistan are linked by geography, bonded by culture, and aligned in their visions for development. The two countries enjoy a profound traditional friendship and longstanding people-to-people ties. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations over 30 years ago, China and Uzbekistan have consistently upheld mutual respect, good-neighborly relations, solidarity, and mutually beneficial cooperation. These efforts have produced fruitful results across various fields, and yielded concrete benefits to the two peoples. In January 2024, the two countries decided to develop an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era, and promote the building of a China-Uzbekistan community with a shared future from a higher starting point. This marked a new chapter in the development of bilateral ties. The CPAFFC will continue to strengthen engagement with Uzbek friendship organizations and subnational governments, and strive to advance people-to-people friendship and subnational cooperation, thereby contributing to building a China-Uzbekistan community with a shared future.
The Uzbek side commended China's remarkable achievements in economic and social development, as well as the significant progress made in bilateral cooperation. They recognized the CPAFFC's active role in advancing people-to-people exchanges and subnational cooperation and expressed strong enthusiasm and confidence in deepening ties with China. Uzbekistan looks forward to expanding collaboration in trade and investment, innovation and technology, new energy, education, culture, and youth exchanges, with a view to taking the all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era between the two countries to new heights.
