On May 24, 2025, Vice President Jiang Jiang of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met with a delegation from Sacramento, the capital of California, led by Mayor Kevin McCarty. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on jointly advancing people-to-people exchanges and strengthening subnational cooperation between China and the United States. Sun Tao, Director-General of the Department of American and Oceanian Affairs of the CPAFFC, also attended the meeting.
