On May 13, 2025, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Anthony Albanese on his reelection as Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia.

Xi Jinping noted that over the past three years, he had met with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and had in-depth communication on strategic, comprehensive and directional issues concerning the development of China-Australia relations, and reached important common understandings that have provided strategic guidance for the improvement and growth of bilateral relations. Further strengthening cooperation between China and Australia is of great significance for achieving common development of the two countries and promoting peace and stability in the world. Xi Jinping expressed his readiness to work with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to advance the steady and long-term development of China-Australia comprehensive strategic partnership, so as to deliver greater benefits to the people of both countries.

On the same day, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council sent a congratulatory message to Anthony Albanese, expressing that China is willing to work with the new Australian government to promote the establishment of a more mature, stable and fruitful China-Australia comprehensive strategic partnership.
