Main Functions: 
Department of Asian & African Affairs is in charge of communicating with the friendly-to-China organizations, personages, other nongovernmental, semi-official organizations and political parties from South Asia, West Asia and Africa, carrying out friendly exchanges in the fields of politics, science, culture, education, etc., undertaking daily work of friendship associations with the Asian-African regions and countries, actively furthering the cooperation between the Chinese and Asian-African local authorities, providing policy consultation and suggestions for issues of the Chinese and Asian-African bilateral friendship cities, coordinating with official diplomacy, holding relevant commemorative activities, organizing and attending relevant international conferences, developing charity activities which benefit the Asian and African people.
