In October 1952, the Peace Congress of Asian and Pacific Regions was held in Beijing with 414 participants from 37 countries. The Chinese delegation was headed by Soong Ching-ling. Guo Moruo and Peng Zhen were the two deputy heads. It was the first time for New China to host a large-scale international conference.
